Picked up a new Harbor Freight Welding helmet and had much better results now that I was able to see. Made three more patch panels and burned them in today. Fitment isn't perfect but it's good enough for a floor.

I ground the welds down a bit and then used Rust Mort on all of the rusty areas of the floor. I did two coats. Next step will be to rinse the excess off and hit it with primer, seam sealer and some kind of topcoat.

I need a new helmet too, mine makes me suck more than I should. Did yours blind you when you first pulled the trigger, then turn normal.

Bombs Away will clean your carpet. Just gave to get it all off within 1/2 an hour or so before it starts stealing color.

I need a new helmet too, mine makes me suck more than I should. Did yours blind you when you first pulled the trigger, then turn normal.

Mine was going pitch black whenever I struck an arc. Even darker than the darkest setting and I couldn't adjust it any lighter. I was running all over. That said I'm cheap so I went ahead and bought the same helmet again. It did work perfectly fine prior to this.

The HF helmet has served me well and I’m on my 2nd as well, but for a different reason. Overspray doesn’t clean off interior lense very well.

I think it ruins a $150 helmet the same as it will a $50 HF unit. Me : ‘I don’t think you covered the welding cart.’ Son : ‘Yup, I missed that.’ Me: :-/

Finally had a somewhat seasonable day and was able to get outside. Wiped up the excess Rust Mort, scuffed and put another coat on. If tomorrow is nice I'll paint the floor.

I also found the water leak. Rear window, driver's side top corner. Should be easy to seal with some silicone.

We had the roof on the house replaced today. These crazy mf'ers started at 7 am and were done and gone by noon. They did a great job and I was amazed at how fast they did it.
