Not knowing where you’re at (living wise) my brother has many a dodge parts rigs. He got 879,000 miles before “retiring “ his first 98’ or 99’ dodge dually Cummins 12V. The seats are one of his big things he wears out. (Even on his newest one 2014). Normal dodge seat issue is the left side cushion. You’re already up on most of the things. Watch for where they rivet the two main frame sections together. It collects sand and water that will rust them in that spot. Oil coating the frame helps A LOT! NH salts their roads.

You're brother doesn't have a 5 speed swap he wants to part with does he? I'm in SW PA. Rust is the bane of my existence. Now that you mention it, I have seen some trucks rust where the sections of the frame are riveted together.

For a diesel I would have to check and he can deliver! Sounds weird out of NH but it’s part of what he does.it probably takes a different computer for the swap. I’ll check though.

He has A transmission but it’s for a 4x2. You have to change the output for 4x4 and do a lot to change it over to the standard he said. Also the HD transmissions are a slight hard to find. Would look on some of the Ram forums and see what others have done.

Yeah I know people have converted the 2wd transmissions to 4wd, but like you said, requires swapping output shafts and maybe a few other things. I looked into manual swaps and what all it entails but its been a while so I don't remember all the exact details.

I'd like to swap this thing to an manual at some point down the road but I'm in zero rush to do it. The existing 47RE automatic is healthy and I just put a bunch of new parts in it so it's fine for now. If I remember correctly, the manual transmissions that Dodge offered were really nothing to brag about. The NV4500 wasn't particularly stout, and while the NV5600 was stronger, parts are harder to find and the gear ratios are a bit tight for just driving around town. I think the G56 is supposed to be a more driver friendly six speed transmission but was never offered in a second gen so it's not a straightforward swap.

Swapped out that crusty brake line today and painted the frame. I brushed most of the paint on with some black Rustoleum I had leftover from the painting the floors, and I used a spray can on the spots I couldn't reach. It was a quick and dirty job, only prep was degreaser and a pressure wash but it does look better than it did.

I know I took pictures before I put the bed on but they seem to have disappeared from my phone. The brakes need bled some more but it's back together now.

It may not be the prettiest, but a little fluid film over that base will keep the truck running a long time in your parts

No big trucker action this week?
Short week. Got home Wednesday afternoon because I had to go to the TSA office yesterday to get my TWIC card and they had to fix the nanny cam in my truck. Paying $85 to get an escort through the ports sucks. Took off yesterday, picked up two baby coils at Galvtech this morning for my Monday drop and took the truck back to the yard for the weekend.

For sure. It's all going to get covered in Fluid Film anyways so I wasn't too concerned about cosmetics.
