So...hows the transmission?
Good. I still have to knock it apart (AGAIN) to change the speedo drive gear to the larger one. That gives me an excuse to use my buddy's aircraft sealing method of 00 silk thread and Permatex #3. 🤓
I also realized that the 2 bolts holding the shifter on allow for some play when I took it apart. I need to fab up a centering plate to lose some slop in the handle.

I understand the pain. The T56 I rebuilt last winter leaks where the case meets the front plate, so if I want it to stop leaking it needs to 100% come back apart to fix. F me.

I have some Caterpillar flange sealant for metal to metal. Unreal how well it works. I’ll take a pic of the tube

It's not too bad. It's just that I screw up the paper gaskets and end up RTV-ing it back together Every. Single. F-ing. Time!

Anything works good if you use enough. I was being stingy trying not to squeeze too much back into the trans.
Smear a medium coat over the whole car

Since the motors apart, I figured it would be a good time to get a good finish back on the front plate. It's getting clear powdercoat because I am sick of the stains and corrosion on the raw aluminium.
