for that cover if someone asks you could always say the turbo wouldn't fit under the hood...

how did you mount that cover to the hood, is it welded or bolted. It really does look like it belongs there as a factory option or sumthing

Thanks again, lol, you know, I could put a turbo set up on from an pre injection regal  , lol. Probably not a good idea at this point though, I can't keep adding and adding, I'll never get done, lol. Anyway, the bulge is attached via rivits from the underside, I made a 1 inch or so lip aroun the inside perimeter for that. I used cap tape to help seal it off to limit the amount of water getting in.

Seems to work well, I rained all day yesterday, when I opened the hood, everything was perfectly dry, so that's a big plus 8) .

I love Quadrajets, but people always tell me I'm crazy. They look under my hood and tell me I need to snatch my "Quadrajunk" off and get a Holley or Edelbrock. I don't see a reason to get anything but a Quadrajet. If you get them rebuilt right they are great carbs.

My thoughts exactly, I really like that many people hate them though, lol, it keeps the price down low for those of us who like them, .

The only hard part is finding someone who can rebuild a Qjet correctly with high grade parts. I think the butchered reman Qjets most chain stores sell are what gives Qjets a bad name.

x2! I traded my junk Holley 600 for 2 old Quadrajets. I played around for over a year with 3 different Holleys, got my original Quadrajet rebuilt by a guy here local, put it on and the only thing I had to touch was the idle and its been running perfect for over a year now in every type of weather Ohio can throw at you. Il never go back!

You have to think that after GM spent gazillions of $$$ engineering a specific carb for every single car that they built, and Rochester was the division that built them for forever, and they came with a great warranty, and practically every single car eventually ended it's life still wearing the original carb, it has to be a great product. My experience has been that when a Q-jet goes bad the rebuild/replace price is substantial, so the cheapo path is chosen. This usually ends badly and either the car is junked or the price is paid and all is well. Of course there are Holly,Carter,Edelbrock gurus out there that can get their carbs running like a charm on any motor, but the casual carb swapper is usually disappointed. If I find an original carb, I keep it, and if not, I build one as close as I can to what should be there.

Ive actually had people give me their old Quadrajets! 8) They buy a running car, and snatch off the carb and get a Holley 670 or something.

I still have the Original 4MC (Sept 8 1971) on the '72 Olds 350.
Best running pair so why split them up.
I have always just smiled and took the Qrudrajunk talk with a grain of salt.
Just drive by and wave when they're in the garage tinkering on there Holleys.

Let Oldsmobile build one for you. 8)
