I see a lot of vehicles at shows that have been left original when restored, however "Improved". Its easy to get in a mindset of keeping something original right down to the "finish" on lets say your wheels. Unless the car is being restored to specs, or going to have a future of scrutiny under the microscope of a panel of 10 judges, often times you can IMPROVE factory quality with not much effort OR time. All manufacturers of vehicles are in business for one thing, PROFITS, and at the time of our beloved G body cars, and with the EPA breathing down on the big three era, they had to cut corners like everyone else to stay in business and be competitive, and profitable, HENCE, low quality results SEEN in our G body cars. Low quality materials, finishes, and craftsmanship suffered. So to me, if you can take those wheels and restore them in a cost effective way, and they look different from factory, EVEN BETTER, who cares if they have the same low quality factory finish, GM would have done the same thing if money was no object back in the day. Lets see your creativeness!
