Loud, squeaky knocking noise deffinatly from the bellhousing area. Most prevalent at idle, and when revved the engine seems to be a bit more shaky than it used to, as if it's off balance. Buick 350s are externally balanced, so a damaged flexplate (or harmonic balancer) would make the engine wibble at rpm, one would assume. I'm thinking the flexplate is cracked. Or the bolts have come loose/broken. I've pulled every plug wire, knock still present, so it's not a rod knock. There are no metal bits in the oil. Oil pressure hot at idle is ~25psi, what it's always been. It sounds like it's coming from the flexplate/converter area. I will crawl under there and check tomorrow to see if the flexplate is broken. I've had 2 knocking engines before, none of them have sounded or behaved like this. When my other SBB ate the bearings, and my v6, even with rod knocks they didn't shake. You could obviously feel the knock, but the engine didn't shake left to right. What say you guys?
