Our 79 Monte Carlo- Pro Touring Project

The shock mount brace is a nice addition, especially for those guys running coil overs. I have a brace I welded in when I did the frame notch, makes it super stiff.

New rear shock tower brace that we developed off our Monte while we were working on it. Brace was originally designed to help distribute the load of the rear coil overs.

We are getting the rear suspension put together for our first event coming up in May. We will be running the rear coil over kit with the Viking Crusader shocks with higher rebound valving.

A few updates.

The TH400 in the car went out late last year. We pulled it out and had it looked at and it's not good. We really want to do a manual swap however we are worried about the time frame to get other projects done. We need to decide soon.

We are removing the 1-5/8" headers that were on the car and replacing them with 1-3/4". Finding a pair to work is tricky, we tried Dynatech and they didn't clear what we needed correctly. We have a set of Hedmans we are trying now. AFR recommends 1-3/4" with the heads we are using.

In the meantime we are also building a set of coilover only a-arms with additional caster built in. They are coming along nicely.

Those A-arms look really nice!

A race-car without manual trans is not much of a race car....

You guys should do the swap. Heck, you guys make a bunch of the swap parts. While youre waiting for the trans to get there, the pedal work takes the most time. Putting it in, and having the driveshaft shortened is pretty quick.

TKO600 is probably a safe bet. You know it will fit.

We are debating on a T56 but also a TKO600.

The only problem with the swap right now is time, our first events are coming quickly and we have two other cars apart. A patched automatic might have to do to get us through the first few events. we will keep everyone updated.

Thanks for the comment on the a-arms!

Nice to meet you guys there at Carlisle this past weekend, cars are looking good.
