Our 79 Monte Carlo- Pro Touring Project

Flaming River doesn't list a column for our cars on their site. Did they put one together just for you guys?

They built our column based on measurements we provided. So it's a custom from off the shelf parts if that makes sense. Once we know fitment is good (which I'm sure it will be), perhaps Flaming River can offer a Green Machine signature series. 🙂

I figured that's what they did. Not difficult at all with the parts they have on hand. I expect you'll love it after your first drive.

They have the tilt columns available but we wanted bulletproof and simple so we chose non-tilt...

Jim at Flaming River was super awesome to work with and I agree, it should be pretty awesome.

I always run the green car with the tilt "straight" so I never use the tilt anyway...

To each his own I suppose but I don't see it as an upgrade for a street car. Nothing wrong with the tilt wheel or factory column in my mind. I really like what you did with the suspension on that car though.

I can't get enough of this build! The stance is perfect. Can you share the specs on the wheels (size and offset)?

We have some new prototype arms going on the green machine today. Plus 0.750" lower ball joint relocation and 3/4" tall Howe ball joints. That should help the front stick better

We also have a new Flaming River steering system going in. The column was mentioned before but today we received an EZ Fit Shaft from Flaming River to go between the column and the gear to eliminate the rag joint. This thing is seriously awesome.

Here is a pic of the a-arm in the car.

And here is the car on all four bump stops. We'll raise it tomorrow but for tonight I wanted it in the weeds.

We got a few more things finished up on the Green Machine. The Flaming River column is in and we also got a Flaming River EZ steering shaft, it is really nice and fit perfect.

The car weighed in at 3,133lbs, they are doing corner weights now. Don't mind the dust... she's been inside since last fall.

We got a very nice set of AFR valve covers and just installed them. Along with some custom zip tie spark plug wire holders.

Our cage came in from Wild Ride Race Cars... looks very nice and suppose to be direct fit to maintain the back set and fit with the door arm rest. We will know in the next month but I am sure it is.

We have prototype lower a-arms on the car, They have a significant amount of positive caster in them along with double shear coilover mounts. We also installed some new coilover shocks we have been working on. More details to come.
