JBreu is right! the solenoid contacts may may burned/pitted. A bad battery connection may also be the problem as mentioned above but thats all I could tell ya. Hoping for the best fellow gbody member :/

Your best bet is to remove the starter and have it tested. That will solve the "starter" situation. You are looking at about $80 for a remanufactured Lifetime Warranty starter for it.

Just replace the starter. It eventually isnt going to respond to tapping on it with a hammer. They arent much and do not take long to install.

I am going in a bit to go get the solenoid and replacing it, If that doesn't work I will just get the entire starter replaced.
I Appreciate your comment.
The tapping hammer didn't I did it and it just stayed the same.
Also the battery cleaner didn't work still the same thing, so time to actually take the solenoid off and try that.

Yeah I am actually getting a solenoid today in a bit after I take my wife to work.
But i appreciate the comment truly.
I am just a bit scared cause I have never replaced a solenoid and I am scared I will mess it up or not be able to do it.

I am going to replace the solenoid first, its only 23$ and if that doesn't work yeah I am just going to replace the starter.
I just hope this works.
Thanks for the comment.

Just a thought. While a solenoid can be had seperatly from the starter, if it's not the problem, can a starter then be had without the solenoid? That is why most places sell the starter with a solenoid, and with a GM it's easiest to replace the whole thing at once. Not to mention that if the solenoid is toast, the starter itself is probably not much better.

Wow never even thought of it like that.
Goodness I guess I will just see how much the whole thing is so i can just get it over with it would be the best choice!
Thank you for this honestly, I would have wasted money.

Alrighty final question, how can I get to the starter mine is under the a/c.
I am having problems with taking this out, I am fearful I will have to take out the a/c and then I can get it.
any easier simpler ways to go about on this?

I would love help but I have none.
I will ask a friend on here if he could help but hes busy with school and I would hate to ask and waste his time over something so simple.

So if anyone has directions to make this job easier or step by step on how to d this I will be fine.
Thanks in advance.

The starter is easiest to remove from under the car 🙂 jack the car up and the starter will be underneath near the exhaust pipe. MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLES before removing the starter or you will see the spark show of your life while getting it out. Please make sure you block the wheels and use jackstands and not just a jack to hold the car up while working underneath. I would hate to here that you got your head squashed by the car falling on you.

You have to do this from underneath the car. I don't know if you got just the solenoid or the starter and solenoid together, but I would replace the whole thing at once and not worry about it anymore.
