So when you spray the self etch aerosol, are you just hitting the very small bare spots? Looks like a few smaller than a coin or the whole area of white? Sorry for confusion
I know you said only bare metal so do you tape off the rest or just give it a quick touch of spray????

Only the small bare metal spots get concentrated on Tony. Whatever extra and overspray ends up on the rest is fine, there’s no need to mask the rest of it off, you just don’t want to coat everything in it. It’s intended to etch into the bare metal areas only.
I’ll document it in pictures when I get to that point.

Speaking of which, the second round of high build primer on the door and fender didn’t happen today. Even with the heat cranked in the garage, it’s SO cold outside that anything below waist level is still really cold. Cold enough that I’m not 100% comfortable with shooting.

With something like primer that’s heat sensitive, it’s not worth gambling on getting good adhesion, proper flash times and curing. The product is too damn expensive to risk it. The weather here is supposed to smarten up a bit here next week, so hopefully I can get it done then.

?

It’s healed up pretty well Quinn, thanks for asking. I’m left with one helluva gnarly scar, and it’s quite sensitive to extreme heat and cold, but most of the feeling has come back to it.

I’m just glad I didn’t lose it.

Decided to distract myself from all the sanding and painting lately with a little side project. Which required.... (wait for it)..... .....painting and sanding.
I really need to get my head checked.

that metal temp's a real thing,i wish my boss would believe me.

Good choice on the valve covers. Even though it is a sbc it will look different with nice finned valve covers? I thought your motor had center bolt Vortec heads? All looking great as usual.

Looks awesome Donovan. Looking forward to seeing those installed. The Corporate Blue is going to look just right with your underhood theme.
