Amazing skills bro. I am about to purchase a 83 cutlass diesel that I am converting to ls power but i noticed it has some rust. what is the name of the panel shown below. I have the panel with the speakers is the rear seat divider or package panel but i cant seem to find the name for the panel that has the trunk weather strip attached. Im located in the bahamas and just want to take on a project car

Picked up the MSD 90 degree boots today in the midst of a full blown blizzard today while out working.

Tonight I got the straight ends cut off and the new boots and terminals crimped on. Spark plug wire modification goodness:

Everything reinstalled, plugged in and buttoned up.

Some time spent rerouting the wires in the looms to make everything look pretty, but other than that, no issues. All the wires reach perfectly and nothing is close enough to burn on the headers.

Completely done under the hood, now all I have to do is resist the urge to light it off with open headers!

Maybe tomorrow I’ll lift the car up a little higher and start cutting and fitting pipes.

Looks good Donovan. Hopefully you have better luck with Superconductor wires and heat. My number one wire cracked twice on my 403. The Olds V8 exhaust port position is much better than the sbc. Hopefully that coating works like a ceramic coating, my Sanderson headers got cool quite fast and didn't get as hot as plain steel headers.

Hopefully that coating works like a ceramic coating,

The CeraKote is a ceramic coating. Ceramic coatings help keep underhood temperatures down as it keeps the heat inside the headers more and radiate it less. Plus the corrosion resistant properties of it make it well worth the price IMO. The Hooker Super Comp headers on my 455 have been ceramic coated since day one and show zero signs of corroding.

As for the MSD 8.5 Super Conductor wires, I’ve had nothing but excellent results with them. Never once had a wire burn or break, never had one short out on me. I like the having the ability to customize them, the “cut to fit” option sells it for me. If these were Taylor’s or any other kind of wire, I’d have to have bought yet another entire set of wires just to have different ends on them. With these MSD’s, it was just a matter of buying the 90 degree boots and terminals and changing them out.

In the process, it saved me $100 over buying another set by doing just that.

I can honestly say with all of the spark plug sets I have made I have never pulled the wire through the boot to put the end on a 90, after crimping I just put a thin layer of dielectric grease on it and force it in the boot and then I use a long punch the same diameter as a plug end to get it aligned perfectly.

Six of one, half a dozen of another. I just find it easier to do it this way, boot on first then crimp the terminal on next. Slide the boot back down onto the terminal and make sure it’s oriented in the boot correctly, and done. No forcing required.
