BUILD THREAD Project Olds Cool (Recognition!!)

I literally built that same section of brake line when it died on the Monte for the exact same reasons. I am glad we have our cycles sync'd.

Looking forward to seeing this thing 100% and cruising this summer.

Is it weird to compliment another man on his rear??

Great work (as always)! Sorry you had to deal with the broken line, but you can't make an omelet yadda yadda yadda....

Awesome news. Glad to see the underside of that car is getting some attention. New old stock - it’s a long game worth playing.

Haha - I don't know if it's worse to compliment him on his rear or to have him put some extra pre-load on it - and then have another member agree that it's best with more pre-load.

Kidding aside - every pre-90 car/truck I get into gets treated to new rubber and steel brake lines, and new fuel lines - if I didn't, then I'd be insane worrying about them.

BTW Donovan - looks great!

Lookin' fancy!

Going to have to fill those wheel tubs with some rubber this summer 😛

Hahaha
I won’t start worrying until we start having to go to the bathroom at the same time, in packs, like they all seem to do.
😅

Thanks Hutch. Yeah dealing with the corroded brake line sucked, but it’s all part of the game with old cars. It may not be what we want to be doing, but the sense of accomplishment afterwards is still pretty satisfying.

Coming along nicely. . . so how long until you cave and lift the body off the frame? 😆

Lol
I have a set of nearly new body mount bushings that I could use, but I’m gonna fight that urge as long as possible!

Thanks Jim, appreciate the compliment. I really probably should replace all the old steel lines, but I’m not about to go looking for trouble either. Gonna stick to the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. For now at least.

That’s the plan! I’ve got a spare set of BFG’s I’m prepared to swap over to once I sacrifice the current ones to the burnout and donut gods, and some 15” tires I can put on a set of N90’s too, so I should be covered!
😈😈😈

Donovan, sometime when the car is back on stands, would you take and post a big picture view of where your splice is? I'm wondering how much of that brake line can be fished between the body and chassis and where a good place is to split it, flare and put it back together with a union. I may go this way if I don't replace the body mount bushings on my car.
