I have an 8.2 rear in my GP. It's from a 67 Chevelle, the 64 to 67 is 2.5" wider than a G body rear and the 68 to 72 Chevelle is 4.5" wider than the G body rear. I have UMI conversion uppers and UMI lowers with a Roto Joint on the axle side.

Ok thanks

it's not a good picture but you will see it on the crown gear.... you divide the number of teeth on the crown gear (which will be the larger number) by the number of teeth on the pinion.

you may have the RPO code but with a 30 year old car I always like to check cause who knows if the rear end gears were changed, plus I think it's a good idea to change the rear end oil since we don't know how old or what type of oil is in the rear end

My axle tube code is
2 AF O 261
Original 83 H/O. I know it's a 3:73. Trying to tell if this code says it's open or posi. Can't find it on all the charts yet.
