Cut a little more of roof away. See rotten piece in pics. Cleaned up a little of the loose rust. Peeled away and ground some of what was left of old roof along windshield channel. Looks a little better. A couple of more years in the rain under a tree would have done this front brace in. Got to clean up the other half and patch a couple of small holes. Not going to try to be pretty with the patching of the holes in the brace as it will be covered up. Gotta order me some por15 to coat it with.

Well back at the roof again today. Finally got all the old skin off of windshield channel with grinder. Cleaned away all of the lose rust. Treated with some metal prep. Cut a little more off and cut down a little on the A pillars. Test fitting along the way with replacement. Now have to get out small cutoff wheel to cut off welds along roof rail and peel old skin off in that area. Also going to use small wheel to cut straight line across top. It's coming along. Got me a can of por15 today also. Tomorrow I am going to patch a couple of holes in the roof brace.
Side note...when we crank car it was making an awful clanking noise from underneath. Found out torque converter only had one bolt attaching it to flexplate. Added 2 more bolts. Dang!!

What would you guys use to replace the anti rattle stuff that goes between roof skin and brace? Thanks

Lookin' good, David.
If you cut some more off you'll have a targa roof. 😛
As for the anti-rattle stuff, it appears that the factory used a sort of tar paper, or roofing felt.
It's coming along nicely.
