What ever possesses people to pack rust holes full of expandable foam and think it's a good alternative? 😕

Lol. All the way back to the front brace. Got it out. Going to make a perimeter cut to approximate size on roof. Then go around edges peeling away old skin. Wire wheel some of the braces that are uncovered by what i cut out and put on some paint. Maybe por15. Grind edges and windshield channel to bare metal for adhesive. All the while I will be test fitting replacement skin. And marking everything to line up right and flange back part.

The progress is looking good. I agree with Jack in that you should go ahead and address the dash while the windshield is out. I also agree that your dash appears to be too far gone. If that other guy doesn't come through, just put a want ad on here. Someone on here has a dash.
Earlier I suggested you use USC all-metal to fill your seam on your roof repair. An alternative is Evercoat Metal to Metal. Similar product, just a different manufacturer. Around here it is a little easier to source and is about $10 cheaper. I like Evercoat products. Their Rage Extreme body filler is awesome. No pin holes.

I have to agree with Jared on Evercoat products. I've used the Rage body fillers and Evercoat Slicksand, and Featherfil, but have not used Metal to Metal. I have used the USC All Metal...good product, but I find it doesn't survive shelf storage for too long.
Thanks Jared. Slowly but surely I can see the light at the end of the tunnel a little on the roof. Got the drip rail mouldings all off this evening. I have a can of the metal to metal I believe that I have never opened. Of course it's been sitting in shop for 10 yrs. Probably no good now even though it's never been opened. I think I will go the new to me dash whole dash route. That post I had a while back about shipping the dash is the one in question. Talked to the fella today and he has been busy but said he hadn't forgot about me. That dash only has 2 small cracks. Definitely easier to put in while windshield is out but not until roof is fixed. Yeah it's a shame how that body shop stuff goes bad on the shelf. I'll be looking forward to the next update.
Well it's the bondo brand metal to metal I have. It's been in hot shop around 10 yrs. Probably no good. Would rather have the Evercoat brand anyway.

You could try opening the can and see what it looks like...it might surprise you. I know I'm sounding optimistic, but you never know.

I am going to check it and see if it's any good. For now I guess it will be "roof rot malibu". Lol. After that part is squared away I guess it will be "dash rot malibu" and so on!!
Well, as long as the project progresses, that's what counts.
