what facts? where are the sources? just because it's on the internet does not mean that every word is true.
besides, none of us are denying that ashes were buried in a landfill. we don't consider it to be an immoral act, simply standard procedure. the soldier's bodies were not desecrated by the military. the families were not misled.

ooookay....
1st amendment: the rights to free speech, press, assembly, religion, and petition
2nd: the right to bear arms and form a militia.
how do these apply?

pontiac GP: i keep forgetting to "x2" your posts...

We're supposed to be here for the cars and the up and coming and the mentoring noobs to the game not to come here to argue about this type of stuff.
ummm, this is YOUR thread, why did you start it? if we shouldn't discuss politcs, don't start a political thread.
and BTW, we are NOT attacking you. we disagree with you, and we're exercising OUR 1st amendment rights to do so publicly, in a discussion.
but yes, when you come out with a non-logical statement we will come down hard

If you really read this story and didnt feel less patriotic then you are no different than a member of a cult really.

that is pretty rude...

I don't deny it happened, I live 50 miles from Dover and have been hearing it for a long time, not news to me. That tells me that people were not performing their duties, not that my country doesn't deserve my support.

Yall can be mad about it all day or not but stop getting mad at me I have nothing to do with what did happen. The ashes were sent to the dump and some of the families didnt hear about it until recently. As for ppl agreeing w/ me who cares? People came here and disagreed with you, and a person came to this thread and agreed in principle with what I said about the story and disagreed with the way I said it so thats like 2 people who aren't on your side about the story. But we're getting off topic again see its like '**** you' to me and I'm irrelevant because I have nothing to do with the story. The dumping of the ashes isnt even the issue that the story should bother you its the dishonesty from higher ranking officials about it at the time to the family members after the fact. If you all cant see that, I really cant help you because you've 'got blinders on' then. That doesn't make you a patriot, that makes you a sports fan on a team who doesnt give a **** about you.

welcome to off topic. I see you've met randy and the gang. Enjoy your stay.

what really did happen?...you don't even know that, all you did was post an article. I think it's funny you said "MSN is a better source of news than fox at least"...Fox loves to dump on the gov whenever they can and this "story" never even appeared on Fox

the 1st and 2nd ammendment discussion is a whole other ball game. I was talking to Randy, hes a vet so I'm shocked he wasnt offended by the story. I was shocked he came here and like attacked me shortly after I woke up from a long nap I'm sitting here looking at cars - revisited this thread was about to go do something else and boom there it was I'm a traitor and I'm 'dangerous' for posting this story then putting a tilt on it so when I came back w/ the "1st and 2nd ammendment" that was in response to him. It was really about "hey I can say whatever I want about this story, and if people agree with me to the point that we think its serious enough we could even assemble and bring guns too if thats what it came down to as a milita if need be" and thats all I was really saying about it and thats it. I was defending myself against him calling me a traitor. I forgot how the 14th came into play at that moment I might remember before the day ends but I cant recall right now. As for disagreeing with me I dont see why, I dont like that woman Nancy Grace and I dont like her voice or always agree with opinion about a story - but if she presents a story instead of putting her opinion out there the story is what the story is whether I like Nancy Grace and the way she presented the facts or not. Facts are facts. You all just dislike my angle on the story and thats about it you all could easily trip me up if we continue to sit here typing it out - its been done before. But you cant trip up the story because it is what it is and it definitely happened and for you all to minimize what happened is so wrong and sad its hard for me to really accept that. That guy Ny87SS and cdg1984 too they thought it was wierd people came out of right field defending the military and minimizing the damage about this particular story too! I am not the only person who thought it was wierd guys so stop profiling.

here's what another vet posted about it,

I'm a veteran. Spent a career in the military. The souls of the fallen are not in caskets or urns or landfills. How does the disposal of partial remains in any way denigrate their sacrifice or memories?

We need to move past vesting honor in perishable flesh and instead honor the person and their memory. Thousands of soldier, sailor, airmen, and Marine remains have never been recovered and never will. It in no way diminishes what they've done, what they did, or how they will be remembered.

Well thats a tangible and more important, more valid opinion than whatever we could come up with arguing about this here on a car forum. I respect that - seriously. I really was just about to talk to someone who's in the service and not even comment myself about the story and see what he said about it. It really doesnt change that some dishonesty occured, and that particular vet doesnt speak for everybody or the families involved in this instance though. I'd like to hear from them before I put all my support behind a statement made by somebody whos not even involved, but it's a more valid opinion than from someone whos not even in the service like you and I.

well you better get busy and go talk to them all so you can get to the bottom of this..and as unfathomable as it may seem some may be looking for some compensation from the gov and money has a way of tainting people's view sometimes but it is the real world out there. And while you at it, I think megaladon6 mentioned this, go to a hospital and find out what they do with body parts they have left over after an operation

The widow of an Army sergeant killed in Iraq told the newspaper she was furious when a morgue she was told how some of her husband's remains were dumped in the landfill.

"They have known that they were doing something disgusting, and they were doing everything they could to keep it from us," Gari-Lynn Smith told the newspaper. She had been pressing the military for information on the subject for four years — ever since she got a report on her husband's autopsy and learned that some of the remains had not been put in the casket for his funeral, according to The Post.

I mean thats really the bottom line. I see you all are so coldblooded the 'they were doing something disgusting' part is over your heads - ok Im actually with you. But the 'they were doing everything they could to keep it from us" part is the problem and if you cant see that theres something wrong with you not something wrong with that. If I buy a phone and sign a contract and get ripped off on my bill and inquire repeatedly about getting some of my money back and get spun that sucks but it's just about money at the end of the day. To some of the people involved this is about principles and religious values and dishonesty, its not about money, and the military had plenty money to go on and do this thing the right way and they chose not to do it thats the bottom line. If yall cant deal with that dont attack me about it, demand whoever was involved be held liable and get out of my face then. You would think I was talking to females the way this whole thing went in circles and my own words were used against me out of context.
