If it's not leaking and runs well already, I'd honestly just take the choke off and spend some time with a bucket, toothbrush, and a couple cans of carb cleaner.
I just take chokes off everything and make sure there are no vac ports to leak. Except 2 stroke lol. It doesn't really get down past 50°here ever and it's always hot, seems like.
But again if it runs well then leave it alone other than cleaning it up.

Looks like it's worth a dang. They're nice with their smaller primary side and the growl and power when those secondaries open up. If your gonna keep it spreadbore and want to retain originality it's definitely worth the rebuild. As long as the corrosion is minimal inside. The last few of them i went through were pretty bad, but I managed to get running better. If you were local I'd go through it for you, but I'm not a qjet expert. How is it functioning now? Can you get a rebuild kit and clean it yourself?
The carb functions flawlessly, and that's why I wanted to keep and build it. There is a qjet specialist amongst us in the group. I'm sending it to him. He and Cliff Ruggles are good friends, and he's knows his way around a carb. I will be sending it to him within a week or two.

Been going through a divorce for lack of better words, hence my disappearance. However, I'm in a position to be a better father, and more stable, successul young man. I was being held back and was not able to grow. Back to being a single father, and bad *ss car builder amongst other things lol.

Rear end getting done soon, and suspension and brakes will be addessed accordingly. Heads are getting 1.5 scorpion roller rockers, and I will be port matching the intake and heads, and doing a little clean up, nothing crazy.

I definitely understand that; I just finalized my divorce back in July. Keep moving forward and don't dwell on the past too much.

Not sure if those are patriots or not. Same pushrod guides as mine. And hard to tell but it looks like they have the dual bolt pattern on the intake side ( gen1 & vortec ) but they are missing the raised centre valve cover bolts. Running mine for almost 10 years now with no issues. I dont know why they got such a bad rap.

Either way, both condolences & congrats on the divorce. In growing older I realize what I had been told when younger. You only get around the sun so many times before your time is up. No sense in being in a miserable relationship / job / city.

Isnt that the truth, was sad at the time however my life over the last 3 years has been so much better since I got a divorce. I was able to do the things I wanted to with the kids and got back into all the things that I was held back from (not only saved a lot of money even with child support with her not blowing it) so to make a long story short keep your head up never look back and go make your life what you wanted it to be. Just like was said on fast and furious with cars when you trade up they don't take half your sh*t
