I've had the same problem recently and bent one of the flat plates that hold the u joint. those look pretty beefed up. Where did you order those and the new u joint from?

I got the girdle from a local speed shop and they are the replacement for an old style u-bolt, it's made by Moroso. I have a 67 chevelle rear. The u-joint is from Napa and the warehouse store has them in stock

took it out for its first drive of the year. finally got my transmission finished and in and working correctly. other new stuff for the year is 1800 stall converter, new wheels and tires, four core aluminum radiator, transmission cooler and the new B&M ratchet shifter. I forgot how fun the car is to drive.

Yesterday I picked up another hood ( figured its easier than taking mine off to work on it and leaving the car hoodless ). The task today is to clean up the backside for some fresh paint then tomorrow start on the topside. Gonna hit the forums and teach myself to paint.

Monday I put on a new brake pedal pad, new window switch, and started it up for the first time in weeks. I hate my new work schedule, 3-11 leaves no time for car shows. :?

Found out that the cause of the failure of the Grand Prix's rebuilt engine was a result of me dropping a friggin' bolt down the intake manifold and not noticing it! :blam:

(yesterday) Got it insured, and registered. Put on a new clamp for the HEI. Gave it a little tune and took it for a cruise. Was nice to drive it, but faaar from impressed. Can't even brake the tires free.
