Went and cleaned the inside of the car a little bit. Held my new gauge cluster in place to see how it would look. And have a mechanic coming over in the next couple hours to set my valves for me. So if I have enough daylight I might tune it as good as I can (still need a proper distributor hold down) and try to figure out the kick down. Then tomorrow I'll try to put the gauges in (will be my first time installing a gauge that's not a tach), get some insurance on it and take it for a rip.

changed thermostat and radiator cap.. temp light still turns on....fml!!! 🙁

did you weld the tabs for the bolts on the shroud there?

yes i did..

Was able to get my kickdown hooked up. To make if fit I had to remove the black plastic piece circled in red. Ran my throttle return spring where the green line is (just temporary until I get a new one).

The problem I'm having now is adjusting it. the spring here circled in yellow is missing:

So with the tab released the cable just slides loosely. My plan is to have someone sit inside and hold the throttle at WOT, release the tab and adjust in manually. But I don't know how far the cable should be out at WOT, can anyone help with that?

Aldo realized that the bozo mechanic that installed this engine put an air cleaner stud in that's too long and it dented my hood

Was gonna get it insured, tune it, and put my gauges in today, but have 2 sick kids home today so probably won't get much done. Hopefully tomorrow.

took it for a ride on a flatbed, was having a good time on the highway with it in 3rd and when I hit the rev limiter and it felt like I threw a cap on a u-joint. Just a loud bang and the vibrations do a nice bolt check, anything loose will fall off. I guess I'll be checking that driveshaft out tomorrow..

Been there!

checked out the driveshaft and sure enough the nuts for the u-bolt backed off and the cap went for a ride on it's own. Last week when I put the driveshaft on those cheap u-bolts didn't feel right when I tightened them. Picked up a new conversion u-joint and some nice u-joint girdles. I won't be having this problem again..
