I'm trying to get this done on my calais before the middle of july. being a manual trans, i need to have the parking brake working. i'll post info if i succeed. The rear brakes came form a 2000 Camaro. I made brackets made from a pattern I found on the Forum. There are two L-shaped pieces that have a slot in them - they fit over the P-brake levers in the backing plates - and I think I can use the stock Malibu P-brake cables with just a little re-routing. The installed photo is from the Forum post - I have not hooked up the cables yet.
Believe it or not, I used 80 Eldorado rear discs on my Monte 7 5/8 rear. The park brake cables on the Monte hooked up no mods, the rear rotors are the same part # as an 80's 4x4 S10. I cut the backing plate brackets off and made new ones from 1/4" plate. It also required the axle flange to be turned down about 1/8".The rear brakes came form a 2000 Camaro. I picked up a set of rear calipers, rotors and hub assemblies from a 1983 Riviera. To complete the setup, I bought a pair of backing plate adapters form Scarebird. With those, you don't even have to cut off the flanges. However, I when I learned of the LS1 brakes that have an independent set of shoes for parking, I liked that better. I should post all those bits for sale one of these days.Believe it or not, I used 80 Eldorado rear discs on my Monte 7 5/8 rear.
