This is what I did.

Get yourself a 1/2" drive spark plug socket.

The 1/2" drive sockets do not have the step-down in them like the 3/8"

Cut it in half.

It will fit over the spark plug and the terminal end will pass through the socket giving you plenty of clearance to use a wrench to remove it

I have made a couple in different lengths to make my life easier.

The problem isn't removing the plug. I can lay underneath the car and reach up with a long open end wrench and get the plug out that way. My issue is I won't be able to get new plug in. I tried from every angle possible to get my hand thru or around the header to see if I would be able to just get the new plug in a few turns then go back underneath to tighten it.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The header bolts are pretty rusty and don't want to crack one. Might go spray them every few hours with some PB blaster then try to crack them loose tomorrow.

Make sure you use a 6 point wrench or socket on them

I've used this trick many times, more so to keep from burning my hands; grab a 2-3 inch long section of vacuum hose, 3/16-1/4" i.d. and slip it over the plug wire end of the new plug. hold on to the vacuum hose to feed the plug into the hole and then turn it to start the plug in the hole.

Changed plugs and oil today. Could not for the life of me change the 3rd plug from front to back on passenger side due to the headers. Had to go from underneath with open end wrench on same plug on drivers side. Passenger side I was able to bust it loose using same method but if I were to remove there was no way I could see being able to get new plug in

I have a similar plug on my Regal. I cut a socket down and welded a nut on the end that I had drilled the threads out of so the plug just slides through. To get new plug in it takes two people, I can install and hold plug in the hole but could not turn it. With my friend on the top side of engine he cold actually turn it in a few threads from there my special socket did the trick. Took about an hour of banging head against wall and weeks salary to the swear jar to figure out a tool and the process, but now that I made that tool and learned the process to remove and install only takes me about 10mins to change the plug.

Accell also sells shorty plugs, but I have not tried them.

No clue. Previous owner is trying to find all the paperwork for everything done. Sounded to me like his wife might have recently passed away and she had everything filed somewhere.

Went to pullapart, spent a little time raiding an 02 suburban. I was able to get valve covers, rocker arms, steam vent, and a spare throttle body with sensors still mounted for my 5.3 swap!!!! I will be doing the trunnion upgrade on the rockers to avoid them coming apart under boost!

Went to the yard and performed a rescue. Saved a front bumper, header and tail lights on an 81 Malibu from an uncertain fate. Also got a receiver hitch from same car.
Then I met up with SmooveG and spent an hour chatting with him he has a bitching 80 regal.
