What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

Today I took the hood off my Grand Prix and strapped it to the roof to avoid overheating. Then I drove from TN to TX... though thunderstorms in OK too. Rain kept her nice and cool.

Sold an old Holley I got at a swap meet for 40 bucks for 100, gonna buy a re-ring kit (rings, gaskets, bearings) for my SP 350. Then a, yes A, new front cam bearing from TA Performance (hardened, dual grooves on the backside, relocated oil holes for less oil dissapation) cam bearing for 16 bucks. The rear 4 bearings are mint. It's a real Roadkill job, but I need it to run. Then alls I needs is to hone the block, get a cam, lifters, springs, and timing set, blow the heads apart and lap the valves (may have been done in the 1980s when the motor was rebuilt, don't know yet), some more bits like water and fuel pump, plug wires, and she'll be ready to go. Still holding out I can get it done in time for my 19th birthday in one month, but I'm not putting too much stock in that date. Aiming for Thanksgiving at the latest. OH. Also I found the correct, two hole throttle cable/kickdown bracket that I'll need for my engines on a car-part-out website (picture). Unfortunately, my intake(s) have a different mounting position for the bracket. It's also kinda bs the only aftermarket aluminum intake doesn't support the later style bracket either. But, I think there's enough meat on the bracket to accommodate some extra holes. 😛

Pulled a few plugs and checked the compression. Averaged 230psi.

Dropped the LS heads off at the machine shop on my way home from work yesterday. They are going to clean them up real good, extract a couple bolts, do a complete valve job and if any valves or guides need replacing that will be taken care of. The shop is also going to check the deck for straightness and mill them if necessary.
Lastly, they are going to install the BTR .660 platinum spring kit with new seals, retainers, locks, etc. to ensure the heads are ready for the cam, and booooost!

Hopefully I will have them back sometime next week. Now I just need to sell more SBC parts to fund LS valvetrain goodies.

Anybody need a good set of SBC cast iron heads with 2.02/1.60 valves, 64cc chambers, 180cc intake, straight plugs?😉

Was able to get the car some juice again, when pulling in from cars n coffee last week was told I ran something over when pulling into the garage. Once I am out of the car and it is shut off I find out it is the fuse block used in the engine bay to run the alternator and starter back to the battery in the trunk making the car dead. With shaved everything on poppers thats a bit of an issue, was supposed to get a new 0 gauge in and out but ended up with a 0 gauge to 4 seperate 4 gauge wires.
Made it work by separating the alternator and starter wires that were run together and just having two extra connections unused. Once I think I have it mostly taken care of I thought I had come up with a solution to the front LED DRL's, attempt to test them and realize those and my half halos are now out. So onto the next hurdle of figuring out what happened there and hopefully having turn signals back in front that still won't blink since the hazards work and the flasher isn't bad unless the 2 different ones I have tried are bad.

Tried a new advance curve so the timing is maxed out at 2500 rpm and the GP seems to like it. The e curve distributor make it easy with the 2 dials to set the curve.
