What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

3TP, 3.42 Posi 8.5 10 bolt out of an 87 GN. All the other stuff the guy just had lying around. Paid a grand for the rear (complete drum to drum, posi and original gears intact), 50 for the swaybars, and $30 for everything else. Oh, I found it on facebook marketplace. I think soon facebook might end up being more popular than CL to sell on. It's easier by far to post stuff.

I hope no one has changed the gears and carrier out of that rear end and that it's not blown, I never rely on the stamped numbers on a 30 year old rear end or the condition of the carrier and gears until I pull the cover.

Pulled the cover last night. Its got the stock lsd and 3.42s Idk why everyone complains about diff fluid smell. Just smells like... fluid, to me. I can provide pics if ya want lol. I plan on going through it, new gaskets and seals. Its been apart before, judging by the black rtv and lack of a gasket.

with replaceable clutch packs it's an Eaton, it can have a S spring or 4 springs and the 2 plates.....the Auburn has cones and are not rebuildable.. I have an Eaton in my rear end and it's from an 67 Chevelle, the only thing I have changed is the thrust washers which had a recall

Gotta go test it.

Sent the parts cars to scrap and got my driveway back! Whooooo hooooo!

Drove Cutlass to work, apparently ran over something sharp and cut through the tread, came out to a flat tire after work. Headed to Discount tire for repair Tuesday.

I think we just sold our third car in the last two days (fingers crossed)... relax it isn't a G-body - just our spare Ford Toreass. But, it does mean that have one less thing to worry about that isn't a G-body!
