What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

I went for a drive this afternoon and on the way back I stopped at a rest area to grab a coffee. The GP was running great up to that point. The carb flooded as soon as I pulled in and the trick trying to get the needle to seat didn't work. I had my other carb in the carb box in my trunk since I had not tried that carb out after I changed the main rods in it, went from 52 to 49. So I did a quick carb change and a few people were kinda mystified and a couple had no idea what a carb was. There was a young guy there with his new Mustang GT They were kinda intrigued that with some basic tools in less than 10 minutes the car fired up. The guy in the Mustang said if his car screws up all he can do is call a tow truck. The carb ran really good so that saved my day. I took the flooded carb apart and found the problem. There was a metal flake that was stuck on the needle preventing it from closing. I just had that carb apart and I don't know where that flake came from or how I missed it...🙂

Maybe from the failing fuel pump?

Maybe from the failing fuel pump?

That piece would not make it up through the inlet, plus I always ran a fuel filter. What it could be from is my stock of needles. I know i checked the needle when I removed it recently, I changed the top gasket and removed everything to inspect it, and I might haveused one of my spares without thinking and never checked it before installing it. The carb ran good but it's only the second day I have had it out on the road with that carb since I took it apart. I'm glad it was an easy fix, the carb is back together and ready to be abused......🙂
