I finally got my Bilstein shocks installed in my Regal, I'll have to wait another day to test them since looks like it is about rain.

Took the wife to a doctors appointment this morning, and one of the tires went from a slight shimmy to full on broken belt. It did get me home without blowing but it may be time to think about a full set of new tires come Spring.

Pulled the old steering column out. Came out a lot easier than I expected. But the previous owner left out a couple pieces when they got into it last...

No horn contacts or lock plate. No wonder the horn would sound when i turned left some times. I had planned on cleaning it up and selling it to recoup some money that I spent on the tilt column but without knowing whatever other half *ss stuff is done to the column, I’d feel better just using it for spare parts.

I will dig into it to pull the ignition cylinder and swap it to the new column when I rebuild that.

In the mean time, now I’ll be able to clean up any crappy wiring done by the previous owner as well as splice in some connectors where needed and reorganize all the under dash stuff.

Dropped the G wagon off for some exhaust work.
Modified a 94 astro van fuel pump and sender hanger to accept lt1 style push connect fuel lines.

Took the day off to take my wife to her doctor, after which, I installed the new cupholder panel that I made last week for the '78 Caballero.

After finishing that, because the weather cleared a bit, I pulled the '79 Elky out and replaced the driver side electric window regulator. I thought that the switch had gone bad, and was about to change it, then decided to do some testing of the various components only to find that it was the window motor gone bad. Fortunately, I had purchased an electric window conversion kit for the Caballero about a year ago, but used a set picked up at the wrecking yard when I did the conversion, so I had a new driver side electric motor/regulator on hand. After completing the replacement, I decided to take it and my wife out for a drive. Stopped for some dinner and took a scenic cruise around a part of town known as Three Tree Point overlooking the Puget Sound south of Seattle. Filled the gas tank before returning home as it was getting dark, and decided to get some pics of the Cab and Elk together side by side in the driveway.

The brown Caballero is a daily driver.
The silver El Camino is a low mile "carport" queen. (garage is cluttered with stuff, car won't fit)

Took the ol girl out for something to eat last night, realized now everything in the back was out but turns and brake signals. Once I got it back home I played with the wires some more and realized that the Chevy rumble must have just made them come loose, so a quick push together of them brought everything but one plate light on. After a quick slap they were all working, now next time out I have to see if that fixes the back up camera. What was weird though when leaving dinner when I started the car it reset the Dakota digitals, so guess that is next on the list of things to check out. Hoping that even though it is probably no way connected but maybe the loose wires in the back caused it
