Left at 10am yesterday for basically Milwaukee, got back home in the driveway in DSM at 12:30am sharp this morning with my $150 fenders. Came with hood shocks, hinges, and kinda crusty inner fenders. I don't really care either way about the cornering lights or the other stuff. I just got the fender skins because they're the same color as my car. The lights are kind of neat tho. One is missing a badge and there's only one socket. So if anyone has parts or info on how to hook these up, let me know.
My dad got his hands on the assemblies and cleaned them up.
And for the record, you can indeed very well carry two fenders in the trunk of your g body. Do not worry, the bottom fender is laying on that weird felt carpet thing I have.
Friendly reminder for those of you staring your cars for the year: Never, ever, ever let your car sit with ethanol fuel. This was after 4 months. About as long as a typical winter slumber. Wouldn't idle worth a sh*t. Had to blow out every passage with air and brake cleaner and scrub the bowl, clean the rods and jets, etc. was a mess.
I ended up bribing my little (19) brother to come along with me on the trip so I wouldn't be too bored. It was cool. Neither of us had ever been out of the state eastwards before. Dubuque is a dope little city. I give the regal an A- on the 750 mile round trip. 75mph@3k is annoying. Other than that, didn't give no problems. No leaks, breaks, failures, nothing. Sitting apart for 4.5 months, jammed together at the last minute, and taken across the Mississippi for some car parts. Pretty cool way to spend a Sunday. Pics are of mileage at first fillup before trip (caught the needle on the way up, that's why it doesn't read full), and sitting in the driveway back home. Looks like I'm 500 miles overdue for an oil change lol.
