What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2020]

we used lots of them on aircraft.....we used 3/32 flush rivets to install them. They deform the bolt threads to lock them but they are resuable, they use them on most the access doors on aircraft and when the door is removed the screws or bolts are bagged to reuse
Actually, now that you mention aircraft I remember them being used on some of the assemblies that were produced at one of my previous employers. I worked for a couple shops that had aerospace contracts in the past.

Yeah, snow, (or cold) So went out to the shop yesterday and retrieved the water pump for my Monte that I have been paint stripping and cleaning/derusting and brought it in and down to the basement to warm up. Today, it received some final attention and a base coat-primer coat of Rust Check anti rust paint. Now busy watching the second hand on my clock while that sets up and then it will get a second coat and more drying time. Engine color coat goes on tomorrow and then more clock watching.

Did get to the speed shop and pick up my new SFI approved engine balancer. No rubber bushing to rot and shift and comes with degree increments all the way around the perimeter for better and truer timing on the light.

Also picked up a new Hurst Shifter Boot assembly for the cabin but it is not a bolt on so may have to wait for the new tunnel cover to see what needs to be tweaked.

Today is cold so I am back to being a hermit and waiting for the paint to dry.

Went to barn to crank it up. Wont start so pulled battery out and have on trickle charge. My fault as been raining and road muddy as can be. Have not been driving

Wrote a tune for the Monte. Not as exciting as it sounds.

And here we have the water pump, primered and painted, although the grey, as described elsewhere, is not primer as much as it is a rust inhibiting coating sold my Rust Check. Figured due to the water pump doing what it does and being where it is, that a little additional sub-surface protection might be advisable.
