Just finished adding some class to the Cutlass 😉.

Fresh off a 16 hour drive back home, swapped my engine mounts around (combination of me hurrying last time, plus the part numbers on the mounts don't correspond to anything and they are very similar to each other) and bolted the engine up for the last time, hopefully. I got 2 more bellhousing bolts in (i'll do the top 2 later, ground strap and dipstick bolt), got the starter on and hooked up, checking over the wiring. fiddly stuff like that. I want to have all the underneath stuff done first. I also installed a new M/S and reservoir. My engine got to swingin when I was putting it in and knocked the old reservoir clean off and put a hairline crack in it. It's one that a Dodge dealer I used to work at installed and ruined in the process, so I was happy to finally have it gone. that's about it. work's been cancelled until the 6th, so I have some free time on my hands. but knowing Iowa it will snow 2 feet tomorrow, be a messy floody mushy shitshow the rest of the week, and be 75*f, dry and sunny the 6th.

I always liked to leave the transmission crossmember off and let the trasnsmision drop a little resting on a floor jack to make it easy to get to the top two bolts on the bellhousing with a long extension and a 9/16" swivel socket....

I did. It for whatever reason just wouldn't work that way. After 2 hours of back and forth up and down (by myself), I had my dad raise/lower/jiggle engine while I manhandled the transmission from underneath. Should have done that first lol.

Lucky me, work shutdown doesn't start until tomorrow. So I tossed the carb and associated bits on before work. And its supposed to be intermittently shitty this week. All I really got left is TC bolts and exhaust underneath. Then reassemble front drive, dump some fluids in, hook up the battery and let her rip.

I mean I get the lower bolts in and then let the tail of the transmission drop and you'll see the top of the bellhousing to install the bolts...when I am linging up a transmission I use two long stud in the 3rd hole up on each side ans screw them in the engine so i can slide the transmission onto onto the studs and guide the transmission in place while it's hanging on the studs......no need to jiggle.. 😎

Left the garage under its own power. Ain't pretty, but it's mine! I got a MILLION things to finish, looks like a pinto, but this feels like an accomplishment!
