So it is obviously getting spark, must be a fuel or vacuum issue.
I went to Auto Zone and bought the filter that goes into the carb chamber. Gonna replace it and try again. Autozone didn't have it, so I went to Advance Auto. Funny thing is at Autozone the clerk looked up an 88 Chevy Cutlass😂. Even though it's not a Chevy and although I was entertained. They still had to order the part. So I went to Advance Auto. There was a mature lady behind the counter. I told her what I wanted. She asked one question, "The short filter, or the long one?" She got the part I needed and I was on my way.

Don't mess with the inlet filter. Yank that sumbich and get a universal, 3/8", metal can filter between the pump and carb.
Gotcha I think I was advised to do that once before but had already added the new fuel line and didn't want to cut it. I bent it perfectly. Now I wish I had went ahead and added the second filter between the carb and filter. (I had previously removed the inlet filter. It was clean but the end cap had broke off.) I'm going to remove to fuel pump next, and check it. Thanks fleming442!

Got energetic and welded the pocket for the shifter back into place on the tunnel. Used an air driven hole punch to create a set of holes in the flange to replace those where the factory had fusion welded it on originally. Took a little bit of teasing and tormenting to get it to line up and sit flat but did go in fairly easily. Expected to have to coerce it a little simply because It was a harvested part from an old wreck and got cut out of the tunnel by means of a red-hot gas wrench so long ago I can't even put a date to it. Having to do little repair work on it didn't help matters any. Dressed the welds with my trusty Dremel tool and left it for the day. Will review my work tomorrow and touch up anything that makes me unhappy, then throw some anti-rust primer at it. Managed to tweak the console body so it will line up again and built a bracket that attaches to the back mounting flange for the old auto-stick shifter.

The Z-bar is on the bench getting touched up due to the necessity of having to tweak it, Again!!, to get the lower clutch rod to finally line up right.

I know, I know, pictures. Planning a picture orgee once everything is done here. Will probably mock in the console as well just to give some sense of how it all fits together and lines up. May even throw on one of the sticks just for sh*** and giggles. Have to find a small tube of single stage seam sealer to throw a bead all around the body of the pocket to close up the edges. Make it look closer to factory. (LOL)

Found out that you can't put a 78/79 header on 84 fenders. The mounting holes are different.

So I put the not so good 78 fenders on just to get it together.

Ended up with

Put the hood on, didn't get a picture.

Having wait nearly a week with all High winds and a final dump of snow I finally was able to get to the Passenger Side (Right) Rocker Arm Cover.

The Gasket one the passenger side was still very brittle but in better shape than the Drivers side. The rust on the cover was much worse than on the driver side, Poured on some Vinegar and Sanded it off, gave the cover a respray You can still see the snow melting around the car (Pic: 2) Here's a shot of the Drivers side cover I put on a while back (Pic: 3). Once I can get the passenger side cover on, I am going to give the car a few more quarts of oil, then drive it carefully to a shop near by my home to get the brakes bled out, The shop in question will allow me to make use of the lift to get the tires off and start the brake bleeding process. . . I've only got emergency brake 🤣 , so this should be interesting.

Got half my exhaust done. Tucks up decently. It's the jegs kit. I expected there to be fitment issues since I dare not have a sbc, so that necessitates no mufflers. For now. Mufflers come within maybe 3 inches of the rear end. Passenger muffler hit the lower arm mount on the frame. Maybe I have the pipes swapped left to right, but they fit the best this way.
Also water pump gasket blew. I noticed a drip every now and then. I poked around, prodded a piece of gasket and it gushed out. Fixed that.

They that restrictive? I like the anti drainback convenience.
