Got the first buff done ( compound) on the parts i painted 2 weeks ago. POLISH TIME! I really like The Restoration Shop clear, put 4 coats on sanded with a final 3000 wet. Compound buffed with Menzerna 400. Very little buffing effort. Even the PITA Choo Choo nose light pockets hand rubbed pretty easy.

You should put the body pictures into your build thread.

It'll be nice when your done to go back to one thread and see the progress in one place.

Finally got around to installing my cowl hood with help from my 61 year old dad. Thanks pop.

Well, technically not mine, but took the wife and kids to the drag strip last night. My wife has never been drag racing and I'll take the heat for it, but by end of night they're hooked and wanna go back for more which is a huge win in my book!!!!
There were a couple Cutlass' there and a turbo LS Malibu that was quick. Not sure on drivetrain of the white euro clip car, but silver one had a BBC on the giggle juice and ole girl did the shuffle like a boss! It was a pretty quick grudge car.

You ain't gonna run that 5.3?

Replaced the little vacuum fitting on the back of the intake manifold. Little piece costs $15 because Corvettes used the same fitting as MCSSs. The old fitting had to be screwed into the port really deep while the new one only screwed half way down as the old one. Comparing the two fittings I can see the NPT treads on the old fitting were stretched to the point they curved instead of taper in. Have to watch the little details.

Discovered (after 30+ years) manual & auto cats had different spec ash trays (flip down, slide out) & my original is for a manual. Must of been installed to use up what they had at the end of the '81 production year.

Only 50 in the garage today so just did some sanding on my 84' Hurst spoiler too cold to mud or prime...checked the new pedestals my kid bought me for my B-day in January...have to do some drilling and grinding to make them work though...from the parts place.com
