I had to learn the hard way to make sure those throttle return springs are in good working order. I was stuck wide open, but thankfully my little "exhibition of speed" was in a big empty industrial area. I killed power and safely coasted to a stop.

Question for those who have gone this route. I have the SS rear urethane bumper cover and it has these two cheesy fake "chrome" strips running along its upper and lower edges. I want to lose them and am wondering what type of product would work best to replace them? Thinking some kind of two part urethane filler if such a product exists or the next best thing to it. Since the cover needs to flex a little, it has to be something that can tolerate some push and pull. I suppose I could use a section of solid poly-foam tube as a filler/backer and coat over that to save material and weight but the foam itself would have to be glued or bonded to the existing material just to make the job a little easier. Any thoughts here?

Dixie, OPGI, Mike's Montes & the such has the '83-'86 SS black versions to replace the base chrome ones.

The 88 I had no longer used those. If you get a late, 1988 for sure and I think maybe 1987, bumper cover it won't have anything at all there, it's just smooth.

I am back to working on my El Camino. At a recent swap meet I bought a 68 350 so I could get some more pieces. My plan is to rebuild the heads to W-31, and do the machine work and make a another short block for future project with my son; a GM pickup (preferably GMC) '74 to ??? to drop the Olds engine in. It will be a "Beau James" tribute truck, a paint scheme in the mid 70's. There was also a "Gentleman Jim" second scheme available at the same time.

These valve covers were crusty alluminum pff the engine I bought, and I spent a rainy day getting them ready to paint. These will go on mine. They must worth something as I don't recall ever seeing Holley ones before. M/T I have seen and Moroso and the non distinct G Body Olds V-8. The black/red is a nod to the Oldsmobile racing guys of the 90's that always seemed to have black and red prominent on their very successful race cars. They will go on the next time I have to remove the valve covers.

There's an actual Beau James for sale right now with a flat cam lobe that still runs/moves out in the Midwest right now. Has the factory floor mats still and the hub caps. I think it's around 3 grand.
