What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2023]

Pretty much two options I have unless I go big $$$ for a 2-3 piece wheel, and I don't really like the looks of either...
And craggar soft 8 17*9 is ~160.00 each
For the price of those tork thrust you can get billet specialties in exactly your spec for less.
Which might be the route I take. My biggest hurdle is the 8.8 is 5x4.5 and has 5/8 studs so my options are even lower on wheels.

Just floated billets page, ~650.00 for 17*11 with BS from. 3.25-8.5"
On the 8.8, I got custom axles with 5-4.75" and 1/2" studs
 
Tried to take the "Parts car - turned project" '78 Cutlass out for a cruise last Saturday, it cranked for about 5 seconds and stopped, then nothing. Bad battery cable connection - check - Good. Battery voltage - check- good. Jiggled the wires down to the starter and it tried to crank but stopped again. Dropped the starter, confirmed it and the solenoid were good, checked wiring, ignition wire had a bare/burn spot where it might have contacted the exhaust manifold, but the wires looked good... so I taped it up and added some wire loom and did a little rerouting. I hate doing starters while lying on the ground, but got it reinstalled and we're back in business. I was then able to take her for a spin.... until the right rear shock decided to exit the stage left and drop to the ground. So that was a fun and noisy 10 block ride home. I have since picked up new rears shock and hopefully will be able to get those put on soon.

Day 3 of rust repair.

Pulled the radiator and condenser back and unveiled the full carnage where the lower loop meets the main support. Plated the cracked section at the front, then made a bigger piece to tie everything back together. I was well on my way to having that piece finished when I ran out of MIG gas, so I am stuck until tomorrow.

Got my 4 center gages all new. Setup ground wires( hopefully correct) ElCo came with sweep speedometer and switching to factory style w/ 8k tach. The back is for lights so slightly different than a real gage push in clips. Dixie Restoration set me up with the plastic gage holder and gages. MalibuRacing.com has the wiring schematics but the wires to use wasn’t coming up so hopefully get that by next weekend. Just happy to get something done!

One of the first things I do, pull everything off the starter and leave only the battery cable and solenoid starting wire ..then route everything to the battery and fuse.
 
I’ve heard soaking the wrap in water helps with the shedding and helps it bend a little more easy.

DSPbuilt is right, soaking the wrap makes it a little easier to work with. It still sheds a bit but not as bad and it wraps tighter.
Guess it doesn't show all that well but they were soaked and have been, I'd hate to see what they are like when they aren't wet if that was less haha
 
Got the motor together and primed, but Auto Zone dropped the ball on the PVC setup. Had to take what they had in stock since what they told me would be there wasn't and won't be for a few more days. Then the grommet was too small go into the hole in the cover so going to see what comes in a few days, ended up making a cover for the inside of the valve cover since it wasn't there and then cut the bracket down on the alternator mount since the new intake was different

Edelbrock doesn’t provide the baffle but you can get them. Had to do the same even after getting them. Depends on how old mine were possibly.
