What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

I'll be interested to see, I have one basically complete that I made myself and have been side tracked with family stuff to wrap up. Hopefully it makes me want to get it finished

I did modify it slightly with some dish scrubber material in the internal black cap, an a o-ring under the head of dipstick to prevent vacuum leaks.

Yesterday in the rain the car got pretty wet inside, I think it leaks through the rear windshield as well as having leaky T-Tops. The factory rear seat insulation was wet and chewed up, so that came out.

Plan to sand the floors because there is some rust showing. It's worse under the carpet on the driver's side. What does everyone like to paint the floorboards inside? I don't think it's rusty enough for POR-15 to work well.

I used Rustoleum Rusty Metal primer and Semigloss Black from the can. I brushed it on. It's cheap, forgiving and sticks well. Here is my build. My floor painting starts around post 310...

Changing my oil and filter 1900 miles early due to having to drive through rivers on the way home this past weekend and water getting in. Its a lil frothy especially in the breather, I think thats where most of it got in. Dipstick doesnt read over full so its not a lot, but any is too much. Midwest got tons of rain. Everywhere near a source of water got flooded. This is a creek near me... Usually about 2 to 3 feet deep at the absolute max. Here its about 18 feet deep.

Also replaced my battery and alternator... 228 Bucks. Solved my issues tho. Ordered some el cheapo Pioneer speakers from Amazon.

Ive only had 1 working speaker for about a year and a half and im tired of it. Also ordered a shim kit for my oil pump to get the clearances in spec.
Replaced a leaky freeze plug in the passenger head.

Lastly I mocked up my 3.8 accessory drive on my 350 to see what needs to be modified where. Only real mods needed is the black bracket that braces the long adjustment arm for the alt needed shortened about an inch and a half. Ill put it back on and measure for belt size... Unless anyone knows the stock 3.8 alt belt length off hand...

I finished off what I needed to do, put a new serpentine belt on, tightened a collector, installed the plug wires and carb, put the battery in and cranked her over till I had oil pressure, put the coil wire on and the timing was too far advanced, moved the distributor a little and it fired right up. It ran great, the choke came on and went off as it should. GP runs smoother on 8 cylinders.... 🙂

This is EXACTLY what I needed to see! I am going to find the same Rustoleum paint and primer. I was looking in to POR-15 but I am scared after seeing it fail for some people. I think I'll start at the rear while the back seat is out, then move on to the front so I don't take too much apart at once. Your floors look fantastic.

replacing brakes aren't that difficult and you only need some basic tools, this forum could help you out so you'd save money and you'd make sure it's done right...🙂

True, thanks man! I just wasn't in the mood to deal with them this past weekend because I had a lot going on and I drive pretty far to work every day so I just wanted to get them out of the way. Next time they need replacing I know where to look haha

I think I'll start at the rear while the back seat is out, then move on to the front so I don't take too much apart at once. Your floors look fantastic.

Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it. I've been buying the Rustoleum in quarts at the Home Depot. It is easy to find. I put it on with a brush just how it comes out of the can. I clean the brush and any boo-boo's with mineral spirits.
