most of them here in the midwest are pretty rusty. i post a add on the local craigslist to see what was out there. this guy is the only person who contacted me so far. i want one that isnt dented or full of rust like mine. i havent checked the local yards here. this one might be to nice for my truck.i use it for mowing and snow removal. i hall alot in my truck

$750 is a probably a pretty good deal for that bed. I paid $500 for mine, delivered to my shop, but I had to fix a couple rust holes on mine.

My lifted miata wouldn't start this morning so I pop the hood. Turned out to be nothing, but I look on the cowl under the hood and I see my kid's Visa card he lost last winter when he was using it to scrape the windshield during a snowstorm.

The Visa card was less than 1 week old when he lost it and we had to cancel our cards and get new ones. That card rode the cowl for at least 1500 miles. I'm guessing he also didn't check the oil during those 1500 miles because the card was less than 8 inches from the dipstick.

Kids....

Reminds me of one of my sayings.

"Kids....everybody should have some."

In fact, it's the title of a book I'm writing of all the stories that happened, because of my kids, that as a parent you just CANNOT make up. Your credit card ice scraper incident would fit right in there.

Gearing up for the weekend. Bought Intake, Camshaft, Electric fuel pump, regulator, 950 Holley, Battery Relocation kit for the Z-28. It's only got maybe 200 miles on the engine so l didn't have to go all out.

Passing it down to my daughter so detuning it so getting rid of the Efi on the 496. Makes it simpler if she ever breaks down. She won't have to carry a laptop and the flash drive for it once the Efi is gone.

Last week I hit a pothole pretty hard in the BMW and popped a tire and bent my rim. Tire blew on the sidewall, so it's junk now.

The wheels are 17" Borbet TS's, which are pretty nice wheels, but two of the four were spray painted by the previous owner several times and looked like crap, so this was a good opportunity to fix one of the wheels. I stripped the old paint with aircraft stripper, sanded the curb rash off and straightened it as best I could. Then I painted it with some spray can wheel primer, paint and clear. Color matches close. I may toss it in the oven to bake tomorrow morning when all the women in the house are gone and can't yell at me for it.

Tossed that wheel in the oven this morning and baked it for an hour at 180°F. Paint was nice and shiny and hardened after. It dried a bit darker but still pretty close. Polished it up with some meguiars cutting polish and I went to a used tire shop and they had the exact same tire that matched the other 3, so I've now got a nice wheel and a matching set of tires. I'm gonna have to strip and paint the other 3 wheels now. I'm also gonna get some BMW centers to cover up the faded Borbet centers.

Mounted the new hood and seat on my mower. Welded a crack in the deck, cleaned it, sharpened the blades, greased the spindles, slid the deck back under the tractor and test run it. Just have to wash the deck and touch up some scrapes on the left edge and then I can take some pics and post it for sale. I only have $900 in it now 🙂 . Then I can get back on my Malibu...
