Spent most of the week with family. Of course when your sitting around you look at random build threads. Quite a few people have cheap LS swapped a 1st Gen cts to make a poor man's cts-v. I don't like those 03-07 cts's enough to consider but the 2nd gen 08-15 wagons and 2dr v6 cts's are a good looking car. Sigma II platform which is cad only but allegedly shares some parts with the Camaro/g8 chassis.
I was poking around for someone who had LS swapped a 2nd gen cts and I finally found one. Most cts-v snobs just tell you to buy a 25k 550hp lsa cts-v. I just want a 330hp dead nuts reliable NA 5.3 cts. Those 3.6 dohc motors aren't super tough.
Finally found a guy that did the swap on an 08 rwd cts. I messaged him a bit and he said it really wasn't that hard. He used a pullout 6.0/6l80e out of a g8 gt, but any 58x gen 4 LS would do. He said literally only 2 wires are needed to communicate the LS pcm to the chassis and bcm. About 30 wires total. Pretty sweet!

I spent some time looking to see if I could drop a 5.3/6l80e out of a truck and a trailblazer style front sump oil pan with the diff that bolts to it and do an AWD v8 wanna-v cts and it looks doable. Need an adapter to mount the passenger side cts front diff to the usual drivers side t-blazer drop oil pan. Need to build an adapter to mount the passenger side drop cts 6l50e t case to the 6l80e but it looks doable!! I might be in the market to find a blown motor 2dr or wagon cts and see what I can find.
In other news, got back home and got to the house projects. Snagged a 70's 30k btu natural gas heater for the garage off FB and needed to get the natural gas back to the garage. The PO removed the line and capped it 3ft short of the wall. Had to figure out how the previous owner ran it and fixed some of their sins. I need to get a spade bit to redrill a hole and pressure test it and it should be ready to plumb up.
Also painted the walls in the spare parts (and the wife's holiday decorations) basement closet and found some grey floor paint the previous owners used to do the shop room and laundry room.
It was a big victory to get the closet almost done and looking better than when we started but the abnormally warm temp and rain we got exposed the damn corner is still leaking. Whole reason we tore into it was the rotten wood and sheetrock. SOB. Didn't see any cracks or recent signs of water when I had it apart so we either need to pop a hole in the floor and stick in a sump pump or dig the dirt back from the house and seal the foundation. It literally started leaking when we were painting the floor. Blah.
Win some and you lose some.
