This hasn't all happened today. But over the last two weeks, while on vacation, I've been working on my Cougar which, for more reasons than I can list here, hasn't left my neighborhood in the last eight years. I've been taking steps to change that recently.

I've replaced the entire front suspension with tubular upper and lower control arms, a larger front sway bar, camber locks, roller spring perches, boxing in the shock towers from the wheel well side, high end adjustable strut rods and updated inner and outer tie rods with the ability to dial out bump steer.

On the rear, I've been running Ride-tec air bags which allowed me to eliminate all but the two longest leaves on the leaf spring pack top get it down. However when jumping on it hard, I was getting pretty heavy wheel hop. So I also installed a set of Cal-Tracs bars.

The tires were 18 years old from when I last put this car together. So new shoes got ordered up and mounted. I also got my "year-of" Ohio 68 license plates registered all legal-like to go along with my previous Historical registration.

Underhood, I replaced the stock stamped sheetmetal firewall to shock tower braces with a much sturdier one-piece "Shelby" brace which I needed to paint to match everything else. I also painted the upper shock mounts while I was pulling the trigger.

Last, I was given a pair of high zoot tig-welded valve covers. The previous owner didn't want them because they weren't baffled. So I installed baffles in those for oil fill and for PCV and installed those. But they're slightly larger than what I ran before, which caused all kinds of arguments over space. I also had to fab up some small brackets to attach my Made-4-You plug wire looms.

Last I rebuilt the carb since it sat so long, flushed out and replaced all the fluids and even washed and re-oiled the K&N air filter.

Last to do is get the insurance policy updated, give the whole thing an inside and out cleaning and detail and go for a front end alignment.

It wants to be a .300 Blackout pistol.
I'm sure it does, but I'm really trying to do this as inexpensive as possible to keep the wife happy. She's already fussy about it, but she doesn't do a good job of keeping up with current events. When I tell her what's going on I know now she's really not listening! Told her it's like a fire extinguisher, rather have it and not need it compared to the alternative.
