I never thought I'd see the day where I was happy to see a clean Z24. But, here we are.
I can remember getting a ride home in one when new, also a vert, but teal over grey. They're pretty cool little cars for what they were in the god awful FWD era. Wouldn't mind throwing one in the garage

I had an '88 Z24 as a first car... my Dad got pretty pissed at me when he was installing the 3rd clutch in it. That thing took a lickin'!

My friend had the next body style newer Z24 with a stick. Fun little car.

My step-mom's was the light blue over silver/grey. I think hers was an 86. I always thought it was a cool looking car. Later, my mom had a dark blue 91 Sunbird with the 3.1 in it. I always wished the Z24 had the 91 3.1 in it.

My step-mom had one of those. Her's was blue. Nice to see one survived, so nice. Ever consider a 3.4 swap?
I do drive this thing with a heavy right foot. It’s hard not to. GM had the exhaust note on these V6 engines dialed in. Especially since mine has a gutted cat. If I ever do grenade the 2.8, I am leaning hard towards a 3800SC swap from a Grand Prix. A bit more work than the 3400 swap, but the fun factor goes way up 😎

Did GM ever put the 3.8 in the J platform? Just curious.

Cool car. Seems many of us had something like that in our lives but they're rarely seen today. I briefly had an '86 Cavalier wagon that was passed around the family like a hot potato. Brown over brown on brown with power everything. Had a 2.0 with a 5-speed and F-41 package. Certainly not valuable but probably an unusual combination. I saved the power bucket(s), console, steering column and battery before I scrapped it. I should have saved the F-41 emblems, but didn't.

That livestock feed is going to have the varmints all lined up, just waiting to grab their plates and gutlery and dig in. Being an interior wall and not apt to be load bearing to any degree, would that make using metal studs and sheet metal paneling a possibility? Can't speak to the pricing but wood for anything is anything but cheap right now. The metal substitutes are a bit more work to handle but if cleanliness and rodent invulerability is the goal then they should do the trick.

Nick
I should look into the metal stud idea. I do own a few different pairs of tin snips, Thanks.

No. It takes a bit of fab work to shoehorn one in there.
Actually. Might be able to help you out some there.

J-cars used the 2.8 in their first gen. Coincidentally, the fiero also used the 2.8 in a transverse mount. But there's a plethora of aftermarket mounts and such available to put a 3800SC in place of the 2.8l, and although the rear cradle was originally of Xcar fame(infamy) there's plenty of resources walking though manual trans conversions for it instead of having to use the 4t65e or such, although there's info for that too... including axle measurements.

The wiringharnesses are custom made, there's guys who repin it for others, but it's not any big aftermarket suppliers.

Bet they could steer you along the path
