Puttered around on my old garden tractor, a JD214. I've had it for many years but it's only been functional this past few months. Was a basket case by the side of the road when I brought it home 10-12 years ago. Made an old Sears plow blade fit onto the quick hitch front end of the tractor. Going to set a winch on the nose for the lifting so I don't have to fuss with the "Armstrong" lift. If the lever was on the right it might be manageable, but on the left forget it. Got to finish up all the welding this week, it won't be pretty but it'll work just fine. The winch is a HF job, not proud of the purchase but they were the only store in town with one on the shelf, so it'll have to do.

Should get a pair of the sometimes free, sometimes $1 or so ultra bright magnetic mini leds from the harbor f***ers to simulate the lights on a truck plow frame.

Nice job though

Am planning on some kind of Bug Eye type lights to jut off the plow frame for working in the dark. Probably add amber and red flashing lights front and rear as well, for extra visibility out by the road. 👍

Brought home one of the next generation of gbody owners! Had this little guy delivered on Tuesday and spent the last couple of days in the hospital helping mom recover. People have always said you will never be more exhausted than the first couple of days with a new born. Boy were they right, wife and I are beyond exhausted and sleep deprived but couldn’t care less since we have a healthy and happy boy.View attachment 186234

Model building

This time for a freind who wanted matching models of his dodge 3/4 ton and his wife's jeep.

Jeep was just a respray but was a nightmare due to paint/primer reactions that led to 4 attempts and real thin paint that covered poorly. It's not my best work but the paint was atrocious to deal with so I'm calling it done.

Dodge was a 1/2 ton lowered 5ft bed unit that I gave the 3/4 ton ride height, stretched the bed to match his schlong bed 8ft version by sectioning the bed and adding 1.5" and a respray to match his color.

Got to get some big rig log time yesterday! My boss goes "let's hook up that 48, you're gonna take a joyride!" I ended up driving for about 3 or 4 hours, picked up 50k lbs of tortilla shells, didn't hit anything, and successfully got back.
The boss said he'd give me a B if graded, I'll take it and run. My CDL test is scheduled for December 7th so I have a few weeks to get ready.

Good job! Get as much wheel time as they can give you.

Been working on converting the carport into a storage room. Last Saturday, I framed the south wall, then cut and installed the plywood sheathing on Sunday. With any available time during the weekdays this week, I framed in the east end with the opening.
The garage is not parallel to the house, although the edge of the carport is, so I had to figure a good looking way to blend the two angles at the front end.
We have several rainy days ahead, so don't know how much I will get finished over the next couple of weeks.
No pic of framing, but did get these of the sheathed wall.

Now that second pic also shows partial framing of the entrance end.
Next pic is entry framing completed.

Nice. Any plans to lay some Typar or Tyvek over the plywood before you side or sheet metal or whatever exterior cover you are going to use?

Nick

Seeing how boat season is all but over and Ice fishing and hunting season is upon us I took the Thule racks off the Sierra. Dug the Flip back tonneau cover out of the corner of the garage and installed it. I was quite happy I didn't have to take the EVOC tailgate pad off and was able to get a pretty good seal.
