I bought & picked-up 4 fresh '32 4cyl model S.S. hubcaps & 4 fresh ribbed style (period correct) trim rings for the Model-A wheels I've been working over. Not sold on the trim rings though. I like the 'more simple' appearance of just the center-caps. My buddy likes the correct trim rings & feels it adds to the dark wheels.

I also bought & assembled a cool 'Little Red Wagon' for my buddy's newborn son for our swap-meets & Model-A gatherings....

Not that you need them, but, holley is selling some flathead Ford headers for 32-up on clearance, $80/set...

Basement bathroom tub project day a bazillion

I guess it's not THAT bad, its just there is so much right foot, left foot, stuff that it's aggravating. Plus everything is expensive, heavy, awkward and we are working in a tight existing bathroom with the drain concreted in, an electric baseboard that's too close, a door that is too narrow for the tub to fit into the bathroom so you gotta do gymnastics to get it in, so it's just not all that fun.

Plus it's for the Wife's Jacuzzi tub that she wanted (and I will never use) so it's mostly to make her happy lol. To her point the old stand up shower was pretty gross due to it being old and done really cheap and the shower head was at my forehead level so not the most useful.

Since the old shower was a stand up 32x32 the drain was 16" off the wall. The new drain on the tub is like 12" off the wall and there isn't room for a normal drain because the drain was concreted in, so out came the hammer and chisel and I turned into a caveman to expose enough pipe.

Had to go to the specialty plumbing store and get a 'direct drain' drain kit to get the assembly short enough that I could save myself from chiseling even more of the floor out and put in a P trap to get the drain low enough to dodge the bottom of the tub. I don't honestly know if the P trap for the stand up shower is buried farther back under the slab or if there never was one. Either this is the first P trap for this bathroom or I am putting a second one in, either way it solved an issue.

Good enough, got the drain moved back the 4" I needed and under slab level to clear the drain.

I've gotta do more hackery to get the overflow connected to the drain, but that's for tomorrow....

Almost time to fasten the tub in for real and hang the wall board.

Not certain when for sure, (my own house is over 70 years old but all the plumbing circuits have P traps), but "P" traps have pretty much become standard and required as a means to create a liquid "baffle" that keeps methane gas from returning back up the pipes to contaminate the air. In a rural setting it can also keep certain critters from trying to use the sewer as a means of ingress. As for certain states, like Florida, gotta be a duck-boat load of videos about finding gators in the toilet.
