What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2021]

Decided today was the day to wire up 2 lights in the closet. 1st one was hardwired. Doing a 2nd hardwired light was looking pretty well impossible as it must be encapsulated in drywall, but 16" on center studs weren't available everywhere for the stairs, so I decided to pop in a switched outlet instead.

2nd light plugged into switched outlet not pictured, but does work wonders. No need to publicly display the extent of our hoarding. Suffice it to say it does the job nicely, but I think I'll move the switched outlet up above the hat rack. The switched outlet is presently at *ss height which isn't exactly the narrowest point of most human bodies. . .

Today I threw a sheet of drywall up over the wiring.

If anything about that isn't up to code I'll come back and delete the first pic. My questions now are a: do I need to mud and tape to be in code? And 2: will this opening cause any heartburn with an inspector? I don't want to have to redo a million things when it comes time to sell the house down the road.

Looks great from my house. You really think a buyer's inspector would pay that much attention in a closet?

If you're talking about that bit of see-through on the far LH side of the picture, isn't being lazy and overlapping a primed 1x6 or 1x8 going off the end and covering the opening good enough to block the daylight and end the question? 1 board, 8 or 10 screws, and done?

So I've been trying to gather my thoughts the last few days. I was at my parents Saturday when my mom dropped a bomb on me. She said my dad told her if anything ever happened to him he wanted me to have his Jeep. He said he knew I would have the pride to finish it and get it on the road again.
Quick backstory...he bought it when I was in high school, and absolutely loved driving it. He always wanted a Jeep. The straight 6 died prolly 4 or 5 years back, so he decided to do a swap. One thing led to another and my brother n law had it stripped to nothing.
The chassis got finished, then BIL and sister went through a divorce, my wife and I moved and work got busier, working on the Cutlass, etc.
Anyways, when my dad got his garage finished we got everything moved to his house. The plan was to finish it there. We had already came up with a game plan and was gonna start on it end of last year. Well, he got sick and passed away so now it's my project.

Plan is to get body back on it, see if any metalwork needs to be done. It has a faded patina to it and I kinda dig it, so I might just rock it for a bit. This will take me a bit, the engine needs a few things still and I kinda wanna inject it over doing a carb, just want something reliable. It has a GM 350 crate 290hp mated to the AX15 trans, so it should be a fun ride. Here are a few pics of current status.

Is it able to stay where it is for you to work on it or do need to bring to your house? Do you have the space?

Either way, that is a really cool piece of your dad that you can hold onto.

Sounds like you know the vision for it. Do it at your pace, enjoy the time put into it and.............

GIVE THAT THING ITS OWN BUILD THREAD! I'll subscribe now!

Yeah, it's at my parents house. The chassis is in the garage, main body is covered up outside. My dad had just finished his dream garage late 2019, so it has a place to stay for now.
I'll just have to let my little brother know if he touches anything or parts come up missing he's gonna lose more teeth! He has klepto problem due to substance abuse, but he doesn't have access to the garage unless my mom is out there.
I'll make a build thread for it here in the new future.
