Retrieved my oldest up from school in the TBSS. On the way home we picked up a blacked out Model 3 Tesla who took notice of how hard I launched it at an intersection. It was cute watching it scamper up behind us over and over again.

Sorry for your loss. Hard to have a parent pass, particularly when you both share the same joys and hobbies; makes the garage just that little bit more empty at times.
+1 on the build thread!! Me being me I could wish for an AMC 401 in the engine bay but hey, if what's there works, beauty.
As for your problem with a light fingered louie, lots of thoughts and ideas on the subject, none of which are going to get applied to this thread due to most of them involving violence in one form or another which I am not going to advocate in any way shape or form. 😉
At this end, decided today had to be an inventory day, as I had a speedo drive for another project that I was assembling from parts and needed a drive tang plate which I knew I had but just not where. Three shelves and a bench top later it showed up so progress on that front. Still minus the ring gear assembly retaining circlip but thinking one of them might be lurking somewhere as well. Did finish the list because they are useful when there is so much time between project start and project finish. Helps me to know what is new, good used, hard used, and used up, plus what i have multiples of, and what is still to be acquired. Sick part is most of the mia items are likely sitting in boxes at customs and me getting there and retrieving them is about as likely as a phone call saying "Come on down, we have a Virus shot here for you."

I am not ignorant to their performance or do I deny their capability. I am simply highlighting the over-compensation I experienced from the guy chasing me down (and he made a point of following me)... and that was sad.

Quick off the line, eager perhaps, but done too quickly and without long-term staying power for a marathon.
A non-electric will always hold the cannonball crown. No investment in 'rapid charging' will ever give the range and quick refuel for said marathon. And the more 'performance' they use, the quicker they die and thus, more time spent recharging.
Diminishing returns says there's a peak balance between battery size/weight and performance. Make the battery too big to support too large of draw, then you add too much weight, seeing performance decline, increasing power requirements, and recharge frequency times increase.
Gallon of real gas weighs 6 pounds give or take and contains more or less the same amount of weight/energy every time.
85kw tesla battery weighs 1200 pounds, and, loses capacity over the years. It's like adding a small handful of sand into your gas tank at every fillup.
