What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2021]

Someone smashed the front corner lamp on my P71, I think it was just carelessness but still. Thankfully new ones are $8 and only took 10 minutes to swap out.

Threw stabilizer in the tank, since my license is now suspended ffs.

Also glued the Chevrolet label back on the trunk lol.

So my second or third or ?? thing to do today was to inspect the layer of epoxy that I applied around the edges of the two stud bases. Nice and hard so took a rasp to it and knocked down all the lumps and ridges. Liked the results so mixed up some more epoxy and laid a tapered coat of it down to create a smooth slope from the bases of the studs down to meet and merge with the inner face of the fairing. Top coated the remaining open areas of the fresh glass as well. Will be back to check it out tomorrow and sand it all down. Still haven't decided on that mesh or glass or both for the final surface. Decisions, decisions..........

Last of lathe work for a little.

Went through my main tool box and put all my measuring tools, end mills and taps/dies in my lathe tool box and organized my cutting tools and hung up some tools on my rack.

Should be getting back to GP projects now.

What a cool machine. Made by the greatest generation.

Got rear ended.
Twice
In 40 seconds
By the same guy
At the same intersection.
At the same light.

After the first I got out and yelled "you're lucky I dont care" and got back in.

30 seconds later BAM. I look back, same ****ing guy.

So like an American I creep up
Reverse drop it into his car and leave.

I saw the mf as I was coming up Grand Ave out from downtown dsm. He pulled up on a side street on my right and hopped the curb as I passed him. His rear bumper was half off and scraping the ground.

I thought to myself "this mf cant drive for sh*t"
And I was right.

I hate stupid people.

Truck is fine btw. Cant tell at all.
His car was fine on the first hit.

And no, he was not rear ended and hit me either time. Both him.

And I was already stopped both times.

Alright, today was a work day and my reasoning processes are off line now but twice in a row! WTF? And no Cops lurking around?? Was this mutt drunk or stupid or stupid drunk or looking for a fight or? Major forebearance on your part cause anyone else getting whacked in the *ss twice would have dropped it into reverse and stomped the throttle, Hard.

Got the new timing set, timing cover and oil pan with fixed drain hole on the tbird a few days ago. Two days ago I had an "eyes shoot open right as i was drifting off to dreamland" "ooooooooh ****" moment and wondered if i forgot the mother****ingcocksucking oil pump shaft. Got out of bed, looked in the parts box on the floor, sure as sh*t there it was in the box. Yesterday I rtv'd it to the new distributor and plopped them in as a unit. distributor is seated, so i assume the shaft is as well. no questions. moving on.

no sh*t, dumped gas in the carb, said to my buddy "watch this b*tch pop off"

and she ****in did

no timing,

no accessories

no water pump or balancer.

the goal was just to see if it would run lest i go through assembling everything again. and it does. so i ordered a new water pump and rad hoses, and if i confirm the car will move under it's own power, i will drop the og radiator off to be cleaned out and fixed.

the car is outside and apparently iowa has had it too good for too long so snow and rain are back. yay.
I still have an issue with the seal getting scrunched and rolling over when i try to slip the rear balancer piece in. i think the seal is too small. its centered, it just will not slip through at all. so that may have to come off again. oh well.

oh, also the rods are stamped and the engine is super clean inside, just that weird yellow-brown old oil varnish. def been apart before.

Does it count when you pay someone to do it?

A year ago we drain tiled our house due to some water issues and installed window wells for egress windows while the dirt was all dug. Was going to hire a friend to cut holes but they got busy and baked out and I didn't know how they did it so we punted the project.

Wife saw a post on FB marketplace about egress window installation, we contacted him, he came out and quoted something actually reasonable and came out yesterday and today and cut the holes and framed the windows in.

$600 each labor so not cheap but way less that a lot of other places. Good results and no complaints.

I would probably dig my own grave I'm so cheap but this is one case where paying someone might have been right.
