What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2021]

Truth man. I don't know much about this rig other than my dad bought it for my mom in 2008, she babied it until now. Has the tow package on it, I'm curious what the limits are to this thing. I'm sure it's a 4L60 trans.
If true you answered your own question... the 4l60e is the limit.

Inline engines are generally longer lasting outside of abuse and defects, and, in my experience, keep on functioning somewhat serviceable in nature even as compression fails and other maladies strike.

They may not run great when broken, but they rarely leave you at the side of the road either.

Consider it a 300k mile platform, aside from that 4l60

Well, according to the SPID codes it does have the 60E 😡. If anything it would be hauling the inlaws pop up camper that weighs 2500lbs. I'm gonna take it easy on this thing and just keep it serviced. It's too damn nice to mess up.
If it dies I'll pull the front end and make the Cutlass AWD, just kidding.

Congratulations! My sister-in-law had one. Stay on top of the oil changes. Lack of service can cause problems with the actuator for the variable cam timing. Great truck. Body on frame. The real deal.

GMT360 gang!

The true sign of a 360 noob is calling the 4.2 atlas a V6

6 in a row built to tow!!! Har-har

Inline 6 360 is for pleebs! And also for people who don't like patching up the damn fuse box. I got some 20ga doorbell wire, the Google said the phone stuff was 24ga. I marked the trace before reinstallation. I thought about getting rid of the tight double bend but wasn't sure about how it would mate with the top of the case so kept it factory.

Didn't take an after pic, but it runs so that means I can hit the track this weekend!

I put a trans cooler from a 1500 in ours. The trans had a filter around 50k and I purged it at 63k when I got it. I've pulled my Corvette open deck and a 3500#ish camper through the mountains, so far so good but I know it could take a dump tomorrow if it wants to.

2500# is no sweat.

Good trans cooler, keep it serviced, accelerate gentle, and try to keep it from hunting back and forth on the highway on grades - if you notice it keep shifting back and forth downshift manually to 3rd out of OD until you're off the sustained grade, then shift back.

Do that and it SHOULD help the stock trans last a little longer. But with a lower mile rig you know the history on, maybe a preventive effort at getting an upgraded trans ready to go ahead of time isn't a bad investment - once your 09 sells.

Picked up a new to me vehicle today. My mom bought a new SUV, so I snagged her super clean 2006 Trailblazer LT. No, it's not an SS, but I know this hasn't been hotrodded, it's fully loaded, always had service when scheduled. Dang thing only has 88k on the clock, new water pump, and practically new Michelins! Now I need to sell my 09 Mariner Premier which hopefully won't be hard with the market the way it is..View attachment 177981View attachment 177982View attachment 177983View attachment 177984View attachment 177985

What engine is in it?
A turbo 5.3 for AWD launches

My 5.3 Rainier has 270k

Both rear upper control arm mounts rusted off the frame and I had to weld new ones in

I replaced the entire front suspension

The rear main seal leaks

The center consoles fall apart if you get a big boy leaning on it when you get in

But it's on its factory 60e from all evidence.

360's, especially the v8 ones with the big brakes, pull and stop like a full size Tahoe or 1500, they are just a bit short and get wiggly if you don't load the trailer well.

All hail body on frame construction!

Without all the rot and BS they're great. Being born in the rust belt I understand your perspective, but having lived outside it I'll tell you what: it's awesome in ways. From a car perspective, hell yes. From a political perspective? Try elsewhere. From a weather perspective? Hell yes. Weigh your options and your freedoms. I can't choose where I live just yet. . .
