Being born in the rust belt I understand your perspective,
As was I...
but having lived outside it I'll tell you what: it's awesome in ways. From a car perspective, hell yes.
Agreed. I remember the first lifetime southern car I worked on and the bolts came off like they were bought at the hardware store yesterday.
From a political perspective? Try elsewhere.
Maybe disagree? Couldn't be happier to be rid of the majority opinions/priorities of where I grew up. But what we all need to remember is, regardless of your preferences, you can be sure there's essentially as many people who feel the opposite of how you do regardless of what your favorite news source and facepage groups/self imposed echo chamber try to tell you.
From a weather perspective? Hell yes.
I still remember the feelings the first Thanksgiving I spent working on a firebird in new Orleans wearing a white t shirt... was redoing vacuum lines one end to another trying to finish before dinner with a bunch of friends at one of their houses.
Weigh your options and your freedoms. I can't choose where I live just yet. . .
And that's one thing that makes this country great. For now. The ability of local people to self determine and set the rules where they live, so people in California aren't dictating to Alabama how to live, and Mississippi isn't telling New York. Find somewhere that fits your goals and personal values without being forced to conform to someone else's vision that you despise.

Installed a new turn signal switch in the Falcon, only to find that the right turn signal flashed both lights and the left inop. Then, proceeded to cut all that crap out of the trunk taillight harness. I mean, seriously, it's 3 circuits. Why you gotta patch so much crap together like that? All fixed, now, and installed a Grant steering wheel with nitrous button and coily cord.

spent the better part of 3 hours chasing tweaker wiring for the rear lights in my truck to work.

Tweaker wire, is that like speaker wire?

Previously I dragged this 55 Starchief out of a field and scored some spare parts. It has no suspension under it. So I made some ubolts, and threw a rear end under it as well as a scummy Rallye 2 roller I had laying around. Getting something under the front (except a pile of parts) is the next challenge.

Grabbed the 1967 Pontiac Parisienne yesterday, rear drivers was flat and held no air, so today I installed the spare for now.

I tried to give the tired girl a start, but the battery cables are old and would only allow me to crank it for 2-3 seconds.

*In VGG voice* Greaaaaat.

Took a day of rest, watched the nascar race being run at Nashville and the dirt track shorts run last night. As I noted elsewhere, the TH350 is ready to pop and drop. Hope I can get a friend of mine to act as a spotter. He is way too old to help wrestle the lump but if things do go totally wrong at least i will have someone on hand to call an ambulance. NLOLH.
