Got back into it this afternoon, basically set some blocks on the ground on both sides, took measurements off of those angles. Got it to the point where I am within 1/8 inch end to end. I'll take it, car feels smooth and tracks good.

You might be hosed on camber too from the factory. Nothing some adjustable upper plates can't fix if you get the itch. But 1/8" is right in there, I usually shoot for 1/16" for optimal tire wear but you run the risk of zero toe if you're not careful getting down that far.

I figure given it's FWD and I'm that close on an 18" off center measurement it'll be fine. This is also sitting static on my driveway, take the dynamic aspect of driving down the road which constantly changes, yup I should be good. It was 1/8" wider in the front compared to the back, which again who know's what it's doing when the front tires are pulling the car along. Feels smooth and the steering wheel is in center, I'll see what it does.

Over the last few months I've been doing a bit of painting Johnny Cash style: one piece at a time. I have to cover things up in the garage and wet the floor, paint, wait a bit, relocate the part, clean, and then park my car where I painted so only some of this happened "today".

I picked up a locker for the end of my 5 drawer cart, but in addition to not being intended for tool boxes it was the wrong color. It's currently in black primer and still being mocked up but here's a pic of the door which was cleaned, scuffed, & cleaned again before being sprayed with Rustoleum Sandable Primer and then being top coated in Rustoleum Red Brake Caliper Paint. I also scuffed, primed, and painted some handles to be mounted vertically on the opposite end of the same cart, on the side of an end cabinet that's also being mocked up (but was the correct color). IMG_20230917_203713339.jpg

A couple of months passed between primer and paint, so a quick wipe-down with wax & grease remover was in order before applying the same red top coat. IMG_20240226_212102655.jpg IMG_20240226_212205217.jpg
The factory 36mm sway bar for my truck received a similar treatment. It got blasted clean at work before being covered in Rustoleum Sealer Primer, Filler Primer, Sandable Primer, and of course, the red caliper paint. IMG_20240226_210851263.jpg

I bought a brand new pan for my truck's 4L65e and simply scuffed and cleaned it before hitting it with Rustoleum Sandable Black Primer and Gloss Black Engine Enamel. The stainless bolts seen in the photo will hold the pan firmly in place while adding a little flash. IMG_20240226_210912424.jpg

The factory bellhousing and tailshaft housing got cleaned every way imaginable before receiving a dose of Bonding Primer and Gloss Black Engine Enamel. IMG_20240226_210938761.jpg IMG_20240226_211122411.jpg IMG_20240226_214341881.jpg IMG_20240226_214532418.jpg IMG_20240227_162537939.jpg

Buddy of mine found this on the side of the road near his place, he didn't have the time to mess with it so I ended up with it. It's not locked up, has clean oil and the gas is good still. Deck is rusted so thinking someone bought a new one and put this on the curb where he found it.

I just want the engine for another mower I have so that's tomorrow's project for the day. Clean it up and see how it runs.
