What did you do to your shop today?

Finally got the lights up in the shop, I put in 8 of the 10 Amazon LED 8' strips I bought. I am thinking the last 16' will go above the work bench.

THESE ARE F'N BRIGHT!!!

Like. Do you recall the part number for them and the per strip cost?

Hit up the local big box car parts for a new foam filter and cover bag for my baby Shop Vac. Got the foam one unpacked and went install it and it split along the seam!!! Thinking about trying a repair using crazy glue. Did manage to get the vac, cleaned out with a little help from my compressor and used the old foam filter for now. This little one is handy because I can fit it under the panel bench and it is out of the road yet available for cleaning up the metal dust and shavings from the work being done on the inner door shell..

So I followed the URL link, thanks for including that, and took a peek at the promo. Loved everything except the price. Not sure if that is normal for such an item or if Amazon was being greedy. Will keep them in mind though as I want to add lights to the north wall in my shop. The rough in's are already there but haven't settled on what type of light to use. Wouldn't mind scoring some goose necks to bring the lights closer to the vehicle but They'd need bracing to support the weight so there is that to consider.

Thanks for posting the URL, appreciate the courtesy.

Funny you posted that. I bought a new mini shop vac, will have to post how it works.

It's 6gal 5hp model, but stainless... and I like retro looking shiny things that throw back to before everything was plastic.

$29 from Walmart as one of their sale items.

Also bought a pair of new 235/75/15 tires mounted balanced with disposal fees for the homemade trailer. $124 all in for both, using said tires buying an old industrial garage rack, heavy gauge steel (warehouse pallet rack thickness) but compact enough to fit under a garage door at 7'6" tall, and 8' long. Shelves use dozens of 1x6 boards a couple feet long set flush perpendicular into notches on the crossbeams as shelving. Got that one used from a retiree who was selling his property and emptying out a 40 year old workshop ahead of time.

They don't have hanging hardware with them and the linking cables/short links are somewhat sketchy. However they weigh nothing and are VERY bright.
Not a bad price for getting 10 of them... less than $30 a fixture. The linkable fixture especially seems useful for perimeter installation
That was my thought too. They had decent reviews and I am impressed with the bet I placed. They don't get hot, weigh nothing and, and the light is a good daylight that's not too blue. I couldn't get dual tube 48" LED equivalent T10 fixtures for less than about $40 per.

Last year I bought some Black Friday specials that seemed decent, I only got 8 though. They were supposed to be about what you found, $40ish each, but were only $15. I figured worse case scenario I'd use them under cars when I went on a creeper till I broke them or they got otherwise messed up because they didn't throw heat, but was pleasantly surprised with what showed up. Housings were metal at least, although not linkable so you've got to plug or wire everything in.

I bought these:

Virtually the same thing. Probably come out of the same factory in China. Came with clips for mounting, the link cables are ~4ft ling. The cables for the plugs (which you have to install your own plug) are somewhat short though. And included caps and adapters to link them if you want to butt them end to end rather than linking them at some distance.

I've tested them and they seem bight but I haven't permanently installed them yet. Still waiting on getting the panel installed in the new garage. I'm just not sure that 12 will be enough.

One thing to keep in mind for us Canadians. These, nor the Barinna one are CSA, ULC or even ETL approved and are technically not allowed for use in Canada. They only have the CE mark, which is more of a European self certification thing and not recognized here.
