What Happens to Folks?

Unfortunately most young people want a quick fix answer and don't even bother getting dirty. Ever watch a kid try and fix something? They go right on to the phone and spend more time scrolling looking for the fix rather than crawling under there and actually LOOKING at the problem. Us old guys would drive an hour to help a friend fix something. We would ask the questions on a site like this. I belong to this one, a Jeep site, a Cobalt site, and a Boston Whaler site. Because that is what I own and want to maintain. The kid will join, ask one question, and disappear. I see this on the other sites as well.

Wonder how that shiny new flex fan is working out?

The upper radiator hose dilemma is playing out on facebook "Monte Carlo Nation" right now. There were a few comments about the flex fan and they were answered with the same "Tone" lets say as were here.
Life goes on...

I don't know, I'm kind of one of those guys that pops in and out I have some questions and don't say much. My .02 on it is sometimes your questions are answered through other threads ,sometimes like some others have said it's priorities or time. I wouldn't be afraid to help or give info if I can help out.sometimes people forget they treat new members like they may know nothing instead of trying to get info on what they know or don't know.I grew up on a small farm (160acres, classified as a hobby), I work a bunch on my own stuff I'm a big do-it-yourselfer sometimes time money stops things from happening at this point in time in my car money is an object I've owned it since 2009 my three kids enjoy riding in the backseat and I have no plans on giving up on it. on the V8Buick forum I kind of read the threads in the shadows and piped in if I felt like I could help out. But sometimes it seem like some people don't care to hear your voice so you don't say much and you just listen in. Josh

Or they ask vague crap and don't help you out with info for you to help them.

They are called askholes, and that's another type of person who I don't put time into.

There it is: Askhole. That was the term I was looking for.

Here are some of the reasons that I know of:

1. Facebook groups.
2. A person may change the active hobbies in their life. In my case, I was all over this forum and montecarloss forums, then my Monte was in body shop prison for years, so I stopped coming as much. I've probably registered to 200 forums since I've been online since 1998 lol. Guns, various cars, etc... I don't go back to the gun forums unless I'm actively looking to purchase another gun.
3. Almost everything that I've thought about a gbody can be answered by conducting a google search here (ex: site:gbodyforum.com "bucket seats that fit") and I get find 10 threads about it without ever posting. I was searching this site even when I wasn't posting and since some of the users documented stuff so well, I didn't have to say anything.
4. Youtube. There are way more people providing show and tell on youtube.

I am guilty of this , Bye till I have a Question ....LOL
personally , my job changed . I use to be IT manager for 3 local HVAC wholesale Branches . company got bought out now I am IT manager for 11 HVAC wholesale Branches across Southern California.
So my free time has disappeared , making more $$ but just don't have the free time anymore .
