Well, my first car AND first G body both have build threads here...lol. The first is my 1979 AMC Spirit DL liftback I got in 1989. It had a 232 L6/904 Auto when I got it. I later added a Clifford 4 bbl intake, Holley 450 4bbl and a small crane cam to the six, and swapped in a 5 speed manual transmission. After I nuked that combo, I put in a 360/727 automatic combo, and right now it is getting a new 360/998 auto combo before I sell it.

My first (and only) G body is the Cutlass in my sig. I have had it since 1993, and what I have done to it is pretty well documented in the mammoth 51 page build thread.

Other cars I have owned: 1989 Olds Calais/Quad 4 POS I never got running right, 1998 Nissan Sentra XE 5 speed I traded the Calais for( the Calais made me swear off American new cars), 1998 Nissan Frontier I traded the Sentra for 3 months later, 1995 Nissan Sentra GXE/auto that I rebuilt from a $350 low mileage wreck ( I totaled it after putting another 80k miles on it) and a 1973 AMC Javelin AMX project that never got off the ground. Right now, I still have the Cutlass, Frontier and AMC Spirit. However, the Spirit will be sold soon so I can put the money down on a new Yaris hatchback.

My first car is the one I still have now my 87 Cutlass Supreme Classic. Had her since '01 when I was sixteen payed 800 bucks while working at Wendy's. It had a Euro nose on her before I hit a park car when I was seventeen. Bought a '86 442 front clip from a swap meet a couple weeks later. Still needs primer but I dont care may paint it after I do everything else I want to do to her lol!

My first car was a 1964 Impala 2dr hardtop 283 W/4-Speed, primer gray with black SS interior. I bought it for $1200 my Junior year of high school, the title was so old that a replacement(in the current style) would have to issued before any ownership transfer or registration could occur. The Wisconsin DMV basically said to me at that time that(by law) someone who is 18 or older would have to do the paperwork for that new edition of the title. So basically when my parents caught wind of this, they used it as leverage, holding the possibility of registration at ransom for improvements in school performance. Well...needless to say, I continued skipping school and getting into trouble and my parents sold my car, and for $1000 at that! Yea, I still will never figure how they figured in ANY depreciation value, the car never moved since the day I got it? Yea, the guy who bought it still never did anything to it, literally, he took it off the trailer and it's sat in his backyard slowly rotting away for 10 years, but he won't sell it back that Dick. It sits amongst many classics, all of which he will never finish in his lifetime. Whatever, maybe someday he'll sign-off and his gambling junkie wife will trade it to me for some an all expenses paid($1000 or less) trip to the Casino.

My First G-body was an 83' Cutlass Calais, it had a olds 350. It was a damn nice car, had only 70,000 miles on the chassis, and around the same on the engine. The car was clean as far as rust. I paid $300 for the car, a friend of mine was forced to sell(by his parents). I eventually traded the car straight up for 1971 Opel GT with a 1969 roller parts car. At the time I made the trade I just finished my other 86' Cutlass, so regret was not immediate.

The 86' is on the left, the 83' Calais is on the right:

I bought my first car January of 2000 (first A/G body), I was 17, my malibu 4dr which I still own today. It cost $1000, yeah I over paid  , it had a 229, metric 200, 2.41's, bench seat, hubcaps, and white walls. I had my eye on a 79 GP with a 350 pontiac engine, but my dad talked me out of it (said I wouldn't be able to afford the gas for it, lol). To make a long story short, 3 engines, 2 transmissions, 2 rear ends, and one deer hit later I still have the car now with new paint, 350 oldsmobile engine, th350 longtail, 8.5 3.73 rear, and other things to make the car more of what I orginally wanted.

how it looked in 2001, sitting with bad engine #3.

1 year later, day after deer hit, pulled new engine and trans out, put in winter rat (85 cutlass)

My first car was a 72 Camaro RS - Split bumper with the fiber glass nose and all with a good Landau top. It was a rust bucket when I bought it though other than the top, drove it into the ground then fixed it up. Sold it and regret it to this day.

1st G-body was a 79 Monte. Had a 327 vette motor in it. Drove that thing to hell and back too till finally blew the motor then installed a 350 that was stock. It ran good anway. Ex got it in the Divorce and she wrecked it about 2yrs later and left it to rot. I got the kids out of the deal, it was worth it. I don't regret losing that one.

Only have had my current one for about 6mos. It's the nicest of them all.

My first was an '86 Cutlass Supreme 4-door. No pictures of it, but it looked nearly identical this one, only in oxidized burgundy, and no hubcaps.
Sadly, the engine let go after 6 months (poor car was severely mistreated by the previous owner, then left to sit in a barn for 2 years), and with no job, no engine experience, and nobody wanting to buy a car with a blown engine, she had to go to the scrap yard :( One of those "If only I knew then what I know now" things...

My first car and G body was/is my 1983 Monte Carlo CL. MY dad bought it new in 1983 and has had it ever since. It was my mom's vehicle when I was a child. It also had a brief stay in New England when my parents loaned it to my cousin who used it for a few years. He went over seas as his air force job called him to and he left it somewhere and it got impounded. My parents drove all the way there and paid the RIDICULOUS price to reclaim it and they brought it back here to Nebraska where it sat until I was 15. Before I turned 16 my parents semi-restored it as the Nebraska weather had not been kind to any part of it. I put it in a ditch and rear-ended a lady with it only a couple months later and it has since been restored. The original 305 blew up after 160k miles and I replaced it with a re-manufactured 305 that I put an intake, carb, headers, and a cam on. That turned out to have a couple valve guides shot and so I was lucky enough to find a mildly built 383 to swap in. Now it sits covered under a couple feet of snow in my backyard as the starter is bad and I would not have any traction.

I've also had a mint 95 buick regal GS with a TPI 3.8 that I love to death until an old lady rear-ended me going 45 and totalled it. I also had a 94 C/K 1500 that had 250k miles but still ran beautifully but then i had to swerve to avoid death when an old lady came over a hill in the middle of a gravel road and i had to take the ditch. I got out of the ditch but couldn't regain control and rolled it a couple times. Now I drive a 2004 GMC Canyon with a 3.5L I5 with 132k miles. IT's absolutely perfect and rust free and everything runs amazingly especially considering the deal I got for it.

My very first car was a 1973 El Camino olive green with a white canopy, the thing was a slug with a tired 350. The day I turned 16 I sold the camino and bought a '78 Camaro with a very nice 350 out of an earlier Z28 black on black 4spd and loads of fun.

My first G Body is my current project car a '80 Olds Cutlass that is getting a 350 (that is bored out to a 355) from a '71 Z28 and guess what? It will have a 4spd transmission as well 8) should bring back memories and be loads of fun.
