i didnt even hook it up to the shifter, i pushed it in from the other end all the way and thats as far as it extends.
are you refering to the shifter bracket in the car or on the transmission? Did your car come with a 3 or 4 speed from the factory? Are you reusing the original shifter or did you buy another one?digimurda said:i also think the bracket housing where the cable and clip go on the bracket is too big/open.
anyone got one for sale?

heres my 4speed shifter.....and another picture of the old 3sp shifter....the difference is where the cable stop is at the front...the 4sp shifter pushes the cable sheething (SP) out more towards the trans...digimurda said:bill said:are you refering to the shifter bracket in the car or on the transmission? Here's the deal,
I bought the car with a b&m shifter, I couldnt stand the looks and the way to use it,
So I bought a 4speed stock shifter from another 442, but the thing is the b&m shifter and bracket was installed with a b&m cable that cannot be adapted to the stock shifter, so that's where this headache started.
Are you sure u bought yours from autozone? Yours does extend more than mine.
I agree...the shifter lever shown for the 2004r would put the steering lock linkage in the wrong position in park position...digimurda said:I don't think it's the shift lever, if u look at the center mounting hole on the 200r4 lever, the hole is at a 11 o'clock angle and the one I have not angled, when u mount the levers do remember they go on at an angle (2- oclock) when in the Park position. So it will be at the same distance.
I'm thinking the problem is the cable.
bill said:Not true Pontiac.... In Park is the farthest extension on the trans...this cable is pulled by the shifter as it goes back towards 1st gear. Park pushes it all the way towards the front of the car.
just pulled the bag from the trash bin....I lied...lol....I have the ca1130 cable. however, it is possible that the part was bagged wrong, or the part you bought was bagged wrong. Im calling a buddy at AZ to help me out with this...did you buy another cable from AZ..or Advance?bill said:Yeah...I bought mine at AZ...CA1102 is the part number. Yours looks like the CA1130, which they list online for the 4speed. What is the part number of your cable?
