I have a magazine from the 1980s - "New Car Buyers Guide" type deal. They list the weight for G bodies as follows:

Monte 3083
Cutty 3133 - 3184
Regal 3079- 3125

I believe these are dry weights with (obviously) no driver.

I guess they didn't feel like mentioning the Grand Prix?!?!

those weights seem low to me. We use to strip a g body right down and use racing panels for the body and lexan for the windshield for circle track racing and we didn't have to use much lead to get it up the the 3150 min weight

i was digging around trying to find weights on monte carlo ss's. i was wishing i would have weighed my 88 before i tore it apart. i found a link that showed an 83 ss-3449, 84 ss-3434, 85 ss-3385, 86 ss-3387, 87 ss-3473, and 88 ss-3239. i don't understand why they would vary that much. why would a 1988 be over 200 lbs. less than a 1987? i thought 1988 was just an extension of the 1987 car.

Someone smarter than me needs to chime in (shouldn't be hard)....

There is manufacturer's weight; curb weight; and also test weight (usu from a magazine article) - in Florida the Car Title also has a weight (which is what our registration cost is tied to) what's the difference?

Also, I get that engine and trans choices and other options change the listed weight, but do they list the base model?

one reason for the 88 cars being lighter is that so many of them were left over cars that had next to no power options. most 88 monte ss ive seen have had no power locks or windows, most were built without t-tops either and quite a few didnt have ac

Chime in, what am I forgetting?

HEAVIER CARS: sedans, wagons, V8 cars, T Top cars, steel wheels, "plush" models had thicker carpeting

LIGHTER: coupes, V6 cars, few options, alum wheels, alum brake drums

note: the early Montes (78-79 or so) had aluminum trunk lids stock.

Right around 3900 with me in it, I'm 200+. Aluminum intake, water pump and shorty headers all add up to about 50 pounds. Otherwise a full weight, plush, loaded Brougham interior.
